Great for physical and mental health!
By Encourage Thinking on Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2021
I was a dancer from the age of 3 until 28 when I blew out my knee. All kinds of dancing, was in a ballet company, and owned my own dance studio. About 6 or 7 years ago I joined the Y and did 6-8 classes a week. Zumba, Piloxing, Barre Blast, etc. I did that for about 4 years before cancer struck. Three times in a year. Over the last 3 years I've had 6 surgeries and chemo. I was done with my 6th when Covid entered our lives. When I could finally exercise again I had to stick to my old "The Gazelle". Boring and I dreaded it. Since I couldn't go back to the Y yet because of the pandemic I bought this DVD thinking it looked like something I might enjoy. Well, I've only had it for 3 days and I can tell you I love it! I don't miss Zumba and the other classes, and it does so much for my mental health. Here's what I love, and maybe it's just the old choreographer in me being set free again. These are routines of a sort but you get to be yourself, let your own style come out, move the way you want to move, and it's lots of fun. You feel energized and happy. You'll have a smile on your face and feel great when you're done. Don't get me wrong, this is a workout, but it's your own and it makes you feel good. So unlike all those years of moving exactly like everyone in the class. Like clones. I was so stressed before I tried it the first time and when I was done I felt physically fantastic and emotionally at peace. I moved my way to a little bit of happy in this grim world and I have to be honest and say I felt like I had an entire body workout, every part of it, and it's not repetitive like the boring Gazelle. Each time you do it, it's different, because you choose how you move and what you want to do with the routine. She had a great idea when she came up with the Body Groove idea. Nothing repetitive or boring. It's not redundant routines you do repeatedly and everyone looks the same. The movements are flowing and shouldn't cause injuries. I'm having difficulty explaining this because it's so different from all the other workouts or classes at the Y or my many many years of ballet, tap, jazz, modern dance. I was in the theatre from the age of 8 and loved it. Danced in shows in my adult years. This feels better than all of it. She gives you the basic steps and you just go with it. Move like your body tells you. Again, this is a workout but the idea that each time I do the DVD it will be different because I made it so if refreshing. Brilliant idea for being healthy, mind and body. Worth every penny. I feel like I move my entire body instead of focused parts so I think it's a way better workout than the structured classes.

Poor dvd format, plays all segments
By Erin F. on Reviewed in the United States on January 7, 2022
I was disappointed after playing this DVD. The DVD set up is poor and you cannot pick and chose which dance segment you want to dance to, you have to watch all the way through or press FFwd which interrupts the flow. I think 1 dvd is identical to another one even though they are supposed to he different. Love Body Groove, they just should have produced the dvd better.
