Quality?

So far the JVC headphones have been a stellar upgrade to the cheaper Amazon phones: less buffeting noise, very good noise reduction. However, the sound quality is quite bassy. There may be a way to reduce this, though I haven't found it yet. Let's hope that they last a while...

Average sound quality, ineffective noise reduction
By IC on Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2025
These headphones are lightweight and wireless, and have pretty decent battery life, and that is the end of the good. Sound quality is average and very muddy at the low end and the so called flat EQ preset is tuned to the bass end of the spectrum. As far as noise cancelling goes, there doesn't seem to be much cancelling beyond putting the ear covering cups on and getting an instant 10dB reduction, no different to putting your hands over your ears. I did notice that the low end ambient rumble was removed when I switched on the NC but voices in the room were still audible and barely attenuated. The ambient option made it sound like I took the headphones off and the 10dB reduction from wearing the phones was compensated for. Overall these headphones are way overpriced (140 bucks at time of writing) thankfully I never paid for them as they were a 5 year service reward and I will be regifting them to someone and sticking to wired phones for now.
