Love It

It’s not like previous Dragon Age games, none of them ever are when you take a moment to think about it. No, there is no Keep integration, but considering the scope of the game it really isn’t a big deal. You get to set important decisions from the previous game when starting, and the character customization is much more expansive. We get diversity back in a a few ways, and regardless of how you feel about the writing, I believe a lot of what was written and spoken by characters are things we all could stand to hear. Maybe use this game as therapy if you are angry, because it can be very validating if you let it.

It's seriously that bad
By Michelle Franzen on Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2024
I am SO disappointed in this game. I pre-ordered and couldn't wait to get it! I got a little nervous about the game when I saw the previews, but a lot of the reviews were about combat and I'm more of a story girl so I brushed them off. I should have listened. Trust me - listen to them. I couldn't even get an hour into the play before I decided to return it. This coming from a person who has almost 1000 hours of gameplay into Baldurs Gate 3. If I like a game I lose myself in it. Dragons Age: Inquisition was such a beautifully done game with an open world, beautiful graphics and lots of story arcs. This follow up is clunky. The exploration is VERY linear. On default settings your characters barely move so you have to play with the settings before you can get any sort of playable movement. The graphics feel very cartoony. The attack combinations are unnecessarily complex. The character creator is overwhelming and it's hard to get it to look the way you want to with all the tweaking settings they have. This may have soured me completely on any future DA releases. This was a step back WAY into the wrong direction. I've even replaced the previous ones many times. I just get past the beginning of this one. Don't buy it guys. I promise you'll regret it :(.

I have been a huge Dragon Age fan for the entire series. Whenever one came out, even with the pros and cons of each game you could always count on it being overall a very solid experience. I am completely mystified by Veilguard. I have to believe that everyone involved in the earlier versions are gone because outside of a few references, this doesnt even feel like its part of the same series. Its like a Sonic the Hedgehog and Dragon Age mash up. Exploding chests, very closed in world. The story is so poorly developed in the early going that it doesnt draw you in at all. I very infrequently leave a bad review. On top of that I really wanted to love the game, but they have lost their way with this one. I'm several hours in and I'm only still playing in the hope that something starts to click to make this enjoyable. As for all the five star reviews I am really shocked. I dont see how any fan of the previous games would give this five stars. To each their own I guess!

It’s not exactly like the older DA games but it was good nevertheless.
Outstanding

I’m having an absolute blast with this game! I’ve been a Dragon Age fan since the very first game, and this one is no exception. From the moment you start creating your character, to the opening scenes and walkthrough to learn the combat, to the more in-depth storytelling, I’m totally hooked. The graphics on the Xbox are incredible. You can choose between quality and performance, and I’m a sucker for quality. I think this is where the game really shines. The only downside for me is the number of cutscenes so far. I get that it’s part of the story, but I just want to hack and slash and get on with it. Overall, I highly recommend this game.

I hated this game. Unfortunately I am not allowed to say why because it "doesn't meet community guidelines".
