NO Regrets!
By Chris Miller on Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2025
The JBL Xtreme 4 has blown me away. It’s much louder than my previous speaker, and the sound quality is incredible. I’ve taken it jogging, river rafting, and even on vacation. It handled mud, sand, and being fully submerged in water for 15–20 minutes — and still worked perfectly afterward. The battery life also really impressed me; even at full volume, it lasted a solid 6 hours in the sun and water. This speaker has gone through a lot, and I have zero regrets about buying it. Pros: Extremely loud with great sound quality Very durable — survived water, mud, and sand Long battery life, even at high volume Perfect for outdoor adventures Cons: None based on my use

Sonically inferior to Charge 5 and Boombox 3
By DiamondPilot on Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2025
I own the JBL Charge 5 and Boombox 3. I love the overall sound of the Boombox 3, it is really impressive for what it is. Likewise, the Charge 5 has an impressive sound signature and low end for its size. I was hoping that the Xtreme 4 would be somewhere in the middle- more volume and more bass than the Charge 5, with true stereo (without needing to pair 2 speakers to achieve stereo as with the Charge 5). However, I find the overall sound quality and tonal signature to be inferior to the Charge 5. The EQ in the App can't quite fix it. The highs are either slightly veiled or too scratchy, with no in-between. And, the bass is a bit lacking in both quantity and, more importantly, character. There is notable compression at higher volumes, and the stereo spread is almost imperceptible. Even at the substantially discounted sale price, I'm not entirely happy with this, though I love the Boombox 3 and Charge 5. I recommend the charge 5 which has a better tonality, (2 if stereo is important to you) or the Boombox 3, which is exponentially better in terms of sound quality. Skip this middle child.
