READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE YOU BUY

I want to start out by saying that this in no way is a fitness tracker, if you are into fitness in any way and have an Apple Watch continue to use your Apple Watch. If you are curious about your sleep, stress, your period cycle I would say this is a good purchase, and get the ring sizing kit. Also make sure you check with your insurance provider — they might just cover this. 1. Sleep- this really goes into detail about how much lite, deep, and REM sleep, this also calculates how long it takes you to fall asleep, your movements throughout the night, a part of this calculates your readiness (will talk about that at the end) 2. Live Heart Rate - this along with the “daytime stress feature (will do into that on 3), you can actually monitor your heart rate and do a “live” heart rate and actually feel the beats per minute, it calculates your HR in 30 minute increments. This will measure your HR at night (and it kinda calls you out if you have an elevated HR from drinking alcohol) 3. Daytime stress - the app/ ring is able to calculate your HR based on stress (this will take a couple of weeks to figure out). It tells me when I’m in relaxed, engaged and stress stage, and the restored stage (how long it will take you to recover from being stressed) this has really been helpful for me especially since working from home. This plays into your Rediness score. 4. Cycle Insights / Natural cycle- Ladies this one is for you if you are looking to come off hormonal birth control and/or looking to start a family or if you’re honestly just curious. I will say the more data that you provide the app on your last 6 periods the better it has predicting (but no worries if you don’t know it) will talk about the natural cycles app in a few. This will take your body temperature every day and create a graph, when you download the natural cycles app (which btw pairs wonderfully with the Oura ring) every morning you will open up the Oura ring app and allow everything to sync then it will transfer that data to your natural cycles app. There you will have Green Day’s ( your safe days for s*x), and red days when it’s not safe (unless looking to start a family I’m sure yours will be very different from mine). This will predict days of ovulation based on your body temp. And your est. next cycle. You will then fill out this form it will ask you if you’ve had s*x, bleeding (for period), LH test, ovulation symptoms and your overall “how are you feeling”. The more information you give the app the better. 5. Your Readiness Score - basically everything I talked about sleep, HR, temperature, “activity” even though I don’t use it. I put my Apple Watch information into it” your stress, this calculates everything and gives you a readiness score to take on your day. It may give you advice to relax, call you out on your drinking “hey your HR was elevated did you consume alcohol or have a late light snack” sometimes it can tell you that you might be coming down with something, or that you can take the day on. I will say there are CONS— it’s a wellness ring, not a fitness ring. The app…… it’s $5.99 a month… for a ring that you pay $350 based on the ring and finish. Kind of annoying. This does scuff pretty easy (so if you wear this while working out get a ring protector). However the Pro’s outweigh the cons…. I’m able to learn a lot about my sleep I’ve got some PTSD/ insomnia from the military. I’ve been able to learn a lot about my stress and period tracking. I think this was very much worth the purchase (I did hold off for a year).

Slightly disappointed
By Jen 🌙 on Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2024
I wanted to try the oura ring since my apple watch is like a series 3 from like 2018. After all the hype I gave the oura ring a try. Heres where I liked about it: Long battery life, sleep tracking is really great, not bulky and fits well. I was also interested in the temp tracking which I wanted to use to track my cycles better. Heres what I didn't like and my thoughts. The rings can be exspensive. I initally wanted gold but its almost twice the price of silver. The functionality is the same between the two - but they say the materials for gold is the reason why the price is so high. I opted for silver instead. I found myself missing the utility of my watch. With your ring you can't tell time, you can't use it to find your phone, can't make payments, answer your phone, etc. But also I was disappointed in what oura had to offer. The temp tracking was not quantitative data - it just tells you +/- from your baseline. I was really disappointed with this. I know that the ring can detect patterns and let you know when you might be getting sick, etc. but within the app I wasn't satisfied with this. Oura is not accepted anywhere for motion tracking/fitness tracking, so you miss out on other apps, etc. where you would need to sync up your tracker. Although it detects walking, running, and cycling very well - that's about it. You can live record only those three (indoor/outdoor) - and any other kind of workout you have to add to your activity after the thought. but just adding it what you did and for how long. I didn't like this. They also use a tagging feature - which I understand but feels like its too much effort. Yes you get slightly more detailed biometric data, but I felt the app was kind of lackluster. The interface is nice but felt lacking and slightly overwhelming all at the same time. They do a good job noting optimal levels vs where you need to pay attention, but that's really about it. I will likely return my Oura ring and get a new apple watch. I was initally really only wanted to try oura for the temp tracking and cycling tracking, but I don't like how the temp tracking is done, and there is virtually nothing for cycle tracking aside from just marking when your cycle starts. You also have to pay for an oura subscription and if you wanted more in depth cycle tracking - pay for natural cycles (not required but they partner together). With the newer apple wathces you can now get everything that oura offers, plus the utility of watch, phone, and payment system - and with new features like temp tracking and etc. you can get more out of the already built in apple apps. And then you can download apps where you might need to fill in the gaps.
