By hello my name is on Reviewed in the United States on May 16, 2025
Wired connection is a bit confusing- I thought it wasn't working on my Linux system since I plugged in and nothing showed up, but reading the instructions it seems there are different ways to turn it on based on what system you are connecting to, start+X for windows mode and now it is working fine. Joysticks seem perfect, hope they really last as long as they say they do. Great dpad. Build quality overall feels a little cheaper than the wired version which is odd.. But its not bad at all. Can't comment on bluetooth as I have nothing to connect it to - just bought it for the better sticks (with moderate use, the sticks on the wired version are a total gamble if you will get 6 months, 1 year, 2 if you are really lucky before they start not coming back to full center) Wish they had these sticks on the wired one.. I honestly should take a star off for the ridiculously short cable that it comes with - a whopping 40 inches - so if you plan to use this plugged in you better have a laptop or a really close PC. I had a spare c-cable lying around, but if not I'd have had to buy one. If they aren't going to sell wired with upgraded sticks they should give a decent length cable with this! But, the controller itself is great, so guess I'll leave it as is.

Updated Review I was able to find my box and inserts to able to exchange this back to Amazon. Strangely the left trigger got unstuck even though it was consistently getting stuck but I didn't want to chance it to happen again later after the exchange period. Got the replacement and gamed on it for a good 24 hours with no problems. I rated this from 1 to 3 stars. I'm still iffy on the longevity of this controller since I researched this model, I've come across that there was issue about buttons sticking and or trigger(s). Since the posting was old and not current, I don't know if that was before the hall effect update or the original version. While I do also have the Viture + 8bit do collab Pro controller, I haven't opened it yet as I have plenty of other (official) controllers that I can use. Even if that controller by the same company is significantly better, the review is about THIS controller. While I appreciate the exchange, I'm still leery about the quality of THIS controller model. I'll be using this with my phone, Steam Deck/Legion Go when I'm not docked or at home or eventually to my emulation machine. I kept the plastic film that covers the XYAB buttons, hopefully that will prevent sticking of the buttons since it doesn't interfere with the gameplay. Old Review I had this less than 3 weeks, and roughly around 5 hours of usage. I paid for the second revision which has the hall effect joystick to prevent drifting and I bought the non pro+ version because it's perfect size to put in your pocket without the bulge that you get with the pro+ version. When it worked it worked well as its to be expected, however when I was at work on my break trying to play some games I realized that the left shoulder button is stuck and you have to coax it out by keep tapping on it or force it out by placing your finger under the trigger and press up. I expected better quality from all the rave reviews on it but I'm not impressed. In all my years of owning controllers, I never had a stick drift (even on N64), that died on me or buttons sticking that I personally purchased (brand new). Sure I had some that broke eventually either by the cable shorting or buttons no longer registering but I was not the original owner of those controller when I bought them second/third hand. I'll probably open the controller up myself eventually when I get the right tools but I personally will not buy any more of 8bit do controllers (update: I didn't open it up, did an exchange). I do have VITURE x 8BitDo Ultimate Controller as the bundle I got with the Viture Pro XR/AR Glasses, as it was technically cheaper with it than without. I haven't opened it yet and most likely sell it as I don't trust their controller quality. Now the wireless dongle, that's a different story as I have no problem with it what so ever.
