I am using this magnetic mount with a 2" RAM ball extender, specifically (search for) "FPN 5.91 Aluminum Alloy Double Socket Arm" mounted on a dash platform. The extender allows me to use this magnetic ball mount to position my phone above, draped over, or to the side of my central vehicle display. I have a MagSafe case on my phone and this particular magnetic mount is strong, secure, and holds my phone perfectly during jostling and rough rides. It fits perfectly into a standard 1" ball receptor. The price is good. Works great for my use.

Metal ball slips instead of being secure in mounts.

Doesn't work with RAM B Mounts. The ball is entirely metal, which you'd think would be awesome for durability and it likely is but it just slips in the RAM Mount so you can't tighten it enough to not move. The real RAM Mount balls are rubber coated metal and don't move. Absolutely useless.
