Very useful and long lasting
By Wayne S. on Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2024
My phone’s battery health is in the low 80s, and my will drop down to 50% or 40% remaining by the time I get home from work. I use this power bank to charge it while I’m sitting at the counter eating while watching a video, or while I’m playing a game in my recliner and not near an outlet. I’d rather not run a long cord from the wall to my chair so I use this power bank to charge my phone while I game, and I also use it to charge my controller. It’s been so useful. So far I’ve been using it for all of last week and it lasted the whole 7 days without needing a recharge. When it does need a recharge, it doesn’t take long at all. Normally it’ll take about 2hrs, but in the app you can set it to take longer to charge, to optimize its life, and that takes about 3 or 4hrs from 0 to 100. The screen tells you how much current is being put into the device and how much is being output, and the app tells you the same as well. I like this a lot more than I thought I would. It really shines when paired with the base station. I feel like the base station should have been included though. I noticed there was a bundle for the 20,000mah version and the base station, but not for the highest capacity 27,000mah. Would have been nice and a bit cheaper. Buying both together is expensive, but for a high quality power bank and the convenience of wireless dock charging and fast input and output, it’s really nice. My only complaint, if any, is lack of wireless charging built in for phones. This thing is the size of a brick and certainly weighs as much, why couldn’t they put a wireless charging spot below the screen mid way or something? Or on the back? A lot of devices are moving to wireless charging, for Anker’s most premium power bank, I feel like that should have been built into it. It’s not like it’s lacking the room for it. But I can get by with my MagSafe cord, it’s just a minor complaint if I had any at all. Oh, and the screen doesn’t rotate like the older model did. One thing I noticed is I can’t use the power bank while it is docked. I’m sure there’s a safety reason for that, but I’ve had one other power bank from another company that worked while it was charging. So it could charge a device such as a phone, while also receiving energy to charge the power bank itself. That power bank recently stopped working though. Still works, but the capacity has really gone down for only being 2yrs old. Maybe that’s why we can’t do that with Anker’s power bank? Idk, I just feel like it’s possible to do but maybe it has an effect on the longevity of the power bank. It’s not a big deal, the base has the same 3 usb ports on its side as the power bank has on top, but it was something I tried to do and noticed it wouldn’t work so I wanted to point that out. Overall though I think this is an excellent power bank and well worth the purchase, but maybe wait till you see a sale as it is certainly pricey

Really neat concept

The good: - base acts as a charger not just for the power bank but it has ports for other USB devices - capacity is good for its size - it delivers plenty of watts and can power my gaming laptop (~est. 1hour while gaming. Minimal drain on laptop battery, but it does still drain during a game.) This means instead of my laptop lasting 2 hours while gaming, it would now last approximately 2 hours and 50 mins... Like I said, still SOME battery drainbon the laptop battery while gaming. Otherwise if I was strictly web browsing, the power bank would add 2 hours or so to the laptops 4 hours (rough estimate) - display will read out power output per port, power remaining, time to charge, etc ... All useful information! The bad: - some charging ports on the base are slower than others - cannot use charging ports on battery while the battery is charging on the base... Just thought I would add this in case you already filled the other ports on the base and you wanted to charge more things. - the slow charging ports are even SLOWER if you are also already charging the battery and using the faster ports to charge other things. The UGLY: (outright a problem or really subjective) - glossy plastic screen scratches EASILY - there's a counter for how many times you hit the button to turn on the screen. Why? Useless feature? I don't understand this and I don't like it. - side button seems to be in the perfect location (for me) to be easily accidentally pushed whenever I go to pick it up to move it or put it in my bag or whatever. Makes the screen on counter go up pointlessly. - it has Bluetooth??? Why on EARTH would I need to connect this to my phone via Bluetooth? How do you connect it via Bluetooth? VIA AN APP that phones "home" to Anker and shares your usage details and the types of devices you're charging with it. WTF?? Talk about "big brother" watching you... I'd rather not have a Chinese company spying on me, thanks.
