Bone conduction headphones by Aiwa

Bone conduction headphones by Aiwa. Bone conduction headphones are apparently new and so far, only one brand available at Walmart for $45.97, the ONN. What got me interested in bone conduction headphones was my curiosity. As I already have a nice set of wired earbuds, 2 sets of wireless earbuds and a full size headphones by JBL. Years ago I had Bose. But sweat and earwax are the biggest enemies to what I now know, for any non Sport version; still you have to gently clear the ear wax out. The important thing to know is that bone conduction headphones will not replace any higher end earbuds or full size headphones as traditional earbuds and full size use open air to create sound waves. Bone conduction uses transducers which are magnets and apparently other parts on it, as we all know, any speaker, earbud, headphone uses a magnet, wiring and a diagram/ voice coil. These transmit sound waves through the bone nearest the ear canal. Pictured here, they rest on the outer edge and do not go inside your ear canal. These would be used for public settings like walking, the gym, riding a subway, working on the job, that keeps yours ears open to hear sounds. This particular model features a mic with two short presses to answer incoming calls. Long press the multi function button for powering on, or off, and short press to adjust the volume. They must be level and be placed near the ear canal. If you remove them, you will feel the headphonea but not really hear anything. I tested these for hours with my phone's Bluetooth volume control all the way up. There is some tingling sensation that some people may not like but what is surprising is how you feel and hear every sound. Things like a basket ball bounce will vibrate. The rich reproduction of highs and lows, the bass is powerful and obviously depending on the audio resolution, the video quality of SD vs HD thus gets more or less vibration because of the frequency. These are clear, crisp and assuming that they by default are maxed out on its volume on the headphone's end. Thing is my ears do not drain properly because I had tubes put in as a kid, but have fallen out; These feature a 3.7v 230 Mah rechargeable battery, that uses USB C port. It comes with a quick start guide, and a USB C cord. The manual states that it can take up to 2 hours to charge. But if you use 15 watt/ USB 3.0 ports and a faster USB C cable, it would probably charge faster. These are sweat proof and a rating of IXPS, as I do not care about needing to swim under water. These will withstand sweat and heavy rain. They last 6-8 hours per full charge, running on Bluetooth 5.0 If you have older phones, tablets that do not have Bluetooth 5, you will need an aux Bluetooth adapter with Bluetooth 5 to connect to these. These are super light weight, they feel very sturdy; the band is designed to close in when removed. And for you ladies, especially Pentecostal ladies, this will not mess up your hair. Now I was able to hear all my sounds, my fingers snapping etc with my phone's volume up all the way. And didn't hear anything when I removed them from 1 foot away. Whether or not they bleed or not, well you obviously can't test it by removing them lol. Basically, these need to be placed up against an object, like a cup, a can, but they are loudest when placed correctly. And despite the tingling sensation, you can adjust the angle just a bit to lessen it. But bone conduction is supposed to create that tingling sensation. In the end, everything from talking, to sounds, to music, drums, guitars, is reproduced in such clarity and depth and seems to be along the level of detail that you get from Bose quiet comfort headphones which are there line up of noise cancelling. These will not lol have noise cancelling because they allow your ears to be open. While earbuds have come a long ways, there's still that ear wax build up that can potentially ruin any earbuds. Now you won't be able to sit in a recliner, lay on your back, because the band goes behind the head, and not above. But will stay put in most situations including the gym. These come in black, gray, white and pink. For me I didn't want to spend $80 or more dollars and nobody has the YouTube reviews on these. It's the expensive brands. I remember Aiwa from the early 2000s and had a set of earbuds by this company and remember how great they were. I guess Sony bought Aiwa lol and went to there store on here and didn't see the bone conduction as an option. Maybe they stopped making them but who knows. It's a shame that companies like Sony, Pannasonic, JVC, Skull Candy, Beats, and Bose don't have these in stores. Because unless I'm going to be camping myself lol, you almost always need to have your ears open. I think that the bleed if at all, will be less than earbuds. Earbuds can get loud because they don't need a bigger device to power them fully.

No bass. Otherwise, they’re decent!

Note: this is my first time trying a bone conduction headset. I have not tried any of the other main brands. Quality and comfort: The headset feels smooth to the touch and light and easy to wear. There’s no size adjusting so it’s a bit annoying to have the back band stick out past your head (which interferes against leaning your head back against something) but otherwise, everything feels good quality. The buttons are clicky and work well. Wearing these for longer periods of time is still comfortable and mostly inintrusive. Features: these have fast Bluetooth connectivity and it’s fairly reliable. The button functions have everything you need for volume control, pausing and skipping tracks but they work a bit differently than other sets so read the manual! Sound quality: Since I have not heard any other bone conduction sets yet, I have nothing to compare it to but from what I’ve read about them, sound quality and bass are usually not very good even on sets that cost 9x the price of these Aiwa's. Highs: sparkly and pleasing high end response is the highlight of this set, something I did not anticipate. Mids and vocals: somewhat tinny… sometimes vocals can sound like the singer had a stuffy nose lol. I suspect that this is mainly due to the sound being filtered by your skull. Bass… nonexistent. Some drum kicks still come through which can vibrate your head, but electric bass or kick drums, forget about it! There’s nothing. I tested with a frequency app and there’s almost no sound below 100hz which is in direct opposition to the promotional images which claim you can feel the music and bass drops like the artist intended. False news! Conclusion: these are mainly for people who really need the bone conduction tech for hearing or who really want to hear their surroundings unimpeded. If you like to listen while eating, these have got you covered because you won’t hear the crunching at 10x volume like you will when eating with earbuds in. But for listening to music casually, this is only slightly better than listing with your phone speaker so you’d be better off with regular headphones.
