Best Bang for Your Buck – Feels Like a $500 Projector!
By Magitha on Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2025
I rarely write reviews, but this projector absolutely deserves one. For under $100, I was expecting something decent, but I was blown away by this. The value proposition here is just phenomenal. First, the picture quality—crisp, vibrant, and way beyond what you’d expect at this price point. The colors pop, and even in a moderately lit room, the image remains sharp and clear. It genuinely feels like a high-end projector. Second, the sound—oh my God! I thought I’d need external speakers, but the built-in audio is surprisingly robust. The clarity and depth of the sound easily rival what you’d find in much more expensive projectors. This is hands down the best projector you can buy in this price range. If I didn’t know the cost, I would have guessed it was a $500 device. If you’re on the fence, don’t hesitate—this thing is a steal!

You get what you pay for: washed-out colors, impossible focus, obvious stuttering

Bought this hoping to replace an Epson Home Cinema that I enjoyed using regularly for about 7 years -- I am well aware of what a projector ought to be capable of. In this setup, I was projecting from about 12 feet away, and the image was about 70 inches wide (no keystone adjustments, ~75% zoom). Good: + UI is very nice, modern, and easy to navigate. + Wifi and Bluetooth features are pretty convenient, if you need that. + Setup was very easy, including tweaking the vertical & horizontal keystones (though I positioned mine to need as little as possible). + Surprisingly compact, and comes with a sturdy carrying case. Bad: - Colors are super washed-out. The brightness isn't a problem, but no combination of settings could make the colors particularly pleasant to look at. This wasn't nearly as noticeable for sitcoms on Netflix, but scenes that are supposed to have vivid colors (especially in video games and action movies) just look horribly bland. - The focus was absolutely intolerable. You pretty much have to pick a band of the picture you want to be in focus at the expense of the other 66%, with the farthest parts of the image becoming a total blurry mess. In the attached photos, I tried to put as much of the middle as I could into focus, and you can see the effect that has on the text farther away from the center. - The video seemed to drop down to (guessing) 10-15 frames per second, every few SECONDS, regardless of what was happening. In the attached video, I'm in an area with very little going on, and that renders exactly the same scene perfectly fluidly on other video outputs using exactly the same hardware and cable (compared to: the native Nintendo Switch screen, a 1080p monitor, and increasingly-tragic memories of how it looked on my previous projector). The flat colors just made it depressing, but the latter two are enough to give you a headache in very short order. If all you plan to do with this thing is sleepily watch some sitcoms on Netflix, you might not actually notice or care about these issues; but if you ever hope to push beyond that narrow scope, you're in for a miserable time.
