Best and most affordable UST Projector for $3K
By seantomburke on Reviewed in the United States on January 26, 2025
The highest quality and most affordable ultra short throw projector on the market right now. I was shopping for ultra short throw projectors in the $3k range and this is by far the best option. I tried Epson, AWOL, Hisense, and this one beats all of the others by a long shot. This one is also has the smallest footprint, the brightest picture, the quietest fan, the best sound, the best design, the only one to have an automatic protective cover, the safest eye shutoff timing, the shortest distance to the wall, the best software, and the most affordable. Only the Epson was the best at the color, of the ones I tried. AWOL was probably the worst one having the picture cut in and out while watching which was a deal breaker. Hisense was also not great in terms of software options. It did connect to Apple HomeKit which was cool, but not all that useful. It also had no auto shutoff eye protection when looking into the laser, which every other system did. It was the only one that ran on Google TV vs Android TV. It also had a light that was always on, and no option to turn off. The Xgimi has the fastest shutoff time where your eyes will never receive light. a must if you have kids. The others have a slight delay where you’ll be blinded for a split second. Epson had the best color, however it had a much larger footprint on the entertainment center and had to be further from the wall, so it was almost falling off. It also required manual focus, and no auto-keystone, and the fan was noticeably loud after a while. So yes the Xgimi is by far the best option. There are some improvement that could be made. It’s running on Android TV, but I think I like Google TV software better. Also if the color laser has the same technology as the Epson, it would be perfect. EPSON was the only where you couldn’t see the blue/green/red colors if you moved your eyes quickly. I wish the remote had an “input” button and the volume buttons would be easier to see. It looks like you could buy another version of the remote on their website with these options. The pros: it has Auto keystone on startup and movement. If you move the projector, it can autofocus. It can also auto keystone on power on. The reason this is a must for me is because it’s on a separate entertainment center on hardwood. Any slight movement to the entertainment center or the projector requires you to redo the keystone. When it’s complicated to do, then it’s a pain to get right. Some of the other projectors require an App where you take a picture of the screen on your phone, or manually adjust each corner. It also supports WiFi 6, which is one of the few devices I own that supports it. The audio was also important for us, because we didn’t want to buy a separate sound bar. This one had the best sounding audio of all the systems I tested. So it was pretty much a no brainer to choose this one, I can’t recommend this enough! Definitely a 5 star purchase.
