I stand corrected...

I was really bummed to learn that they discontinued the two-material composition of the Speck CandyShell Grip case I had on my last few phones. I was really sold on those grippy silicone nubs, and prepared to hate this case. But I actually love it. It’s a little easier to get in and out of my pants pockets, since there is no silicone to grab onto the fabric. I walk a lot, and usually wear those stretchy ‘Athletic’ shorts. They have super lightweight nylon pocket liners, and I was always walking around with my pockets turned inside out from removing my phone. No more. And those super grippy silicone nubs used to eventually break or wear off, which won’t happen with this one. The final bad thing about the old version silicone cases was that the lightning port was silicone only, and would always break off. This one covers the lightning port with all the same material, so it should last a lot longer. And the ports are all spot on. I absolutely LOVE the buttons. They are super tactile, and black. They look great on the matte blue finish, and feel like they are completely separate from the case… like you’re clicking the phone buttons themselves. They’re much better than any other case I tried, even other models of Speck cases. The raised bezel protects my screen and camera lenses well, and the phone snaps in perfectly. The matte finish prevents fingerprints, and there’s just something about the way it feels that’s still grippy, despite the lack of silicone. I’ve had a lot of Speck cases over the years (work phones, personal phones, wife’s phones) and they’ve never let me down. After days of research, handling dozens of cases, I think this is the best case out there. It combines the grip you need to keep from dropping your phone, with the protection you need if you DO drop it. Better protection, without the worn off nubs or turned-out pockets. Very happy with this case.

Hard and slippery with impossible to use buttons
By Potentially You on Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2022
I specifically buy cases with extra grip because most are way too slippery and cause me to accidentally drop my phone. The exact opposite reason I want a case on my device. I've owned the Speck CandyShell case before where the ridges were literally soft, grippy rubber. The downside was after 12+ months of use the rubber starts to break off the case which is probably why they don't make them anymore. In contrast, the clear model of this case is 100% hard plastic with zero softness, 0 rubber, and 0 grip. Additionally, the power and volume buttons are nearly impossible to use as the case is so stiff and hard. I would NOT recommend this particular case. One thing the case does do well is fit tightly, but it is a real pain to get on/off due to how stiff and hard it is. And it is well designed for raised bezel so you can lay the phone flat and neither the screen nor the cameras will touch the surface you've laid it upon. This also means the phone in the case lays fully flat, the cameras don't protrude and cause it to lay directly on the camera lenses like many other cases.
