These are great headphones

Honestly, I was very hesitant to purchase these after reading sooner if the reviews saying that they were heavy, poorly made, broken software etc. but I bought them regardless (at the discounted price of $159) they seemed like they would be worth the gamble. So, are they good? Plainly, absolutely they are excellent especially at that price. At $159 there isn't another headset that is even in the same league.Pros:Stellar sound quality: (soundstage is small because they are closed back but imaging is top notch.) Even on warzone where many other wireless headsets get muddy these maintain their separation and footsteps where accurate and audible.Solid build quality: they are not light but nowhere near heavy. Earpads are so stinky soft and the memory foam is some of the best I've seen. Clamping for is light to medium, just enough so it won't fall off your head but not so bad that you'll get a headache. Buttons are tactile and the RGB looks great.Software: it works as intended. Nothing fancy but accomplishes what it aims to do.Cons:Active noise cancelling needs some work and for the most part is a gimmick in a gaming headset. Don't get me wrong it works but if you move your head around the mic on the outside that is used to monitor the ambient noise freaks out and makes the audio cut in and out. Just turn it off and you're good to go. I'm sure this can be fixed with software down the road and shouldn't be the reason you pass on this headset.Mic: passable but nothing to bank on. It will be able to get you through games and phone calls but it's a little tinny and hallow compared to others.Final thoughts: buy this headphones if you're in the market for a well built and excellent sounding wireless headset. Do not buy it for the ANC or the mic because these just aren't the best implementations of either. Also do not buy at the MSRP of $200. Anything south of that price and these are a steal!

The WORST wireless gaming headset I've ever owned. Not even better than cheapy ones.

Seriously JBL... did you not watch a single YouTube review before making these over priced headphones? I don't mind paying so much as long as I get a very good quality headset... these are not that.First off, they aren't for anyone with a large head. So if you have anywhere near a size 8 like me just forget it. They used clear plastic instead of metal for the headband which will not hold up over time. There's polished plastic on the sides which shows finger prints. Actually most of the construction is plastic. To much RGB to kill the battery. The ear cups are very small so larger ears will not feel good over time of wearing them. The mic feels cheap and can't be removed. The chat mixer button does not have a catch point to tell you when it's between both evenly. As far as function goes, it needed a firmware error out of the box and started by giving me an error when plugging it in for the update. Then after it was plugged in it told me I need to have it paired with the dongle and on. But plugging it in turned it off every time. Then trying to turn it on after I unplugged it the thing wouldn't pair again to get rid of the message. After I finally got it hooked back up it made me do ANOTHER firmware update. Followed by needing it plugged in again and this time not even finding the headset while being plugged in. Come to find out the USB-C connector can only be hooked to it one way for it to work. It then did the same error and ran me through the same issues again..This time I skipped the update since it wouldn't work just to at least hear the sound from them. Well they sound like crap. I had the volume dial all the way up and the sound on my PC at 100 and they're at about what 60% would be on my Logitech or Cloud Flights. You can barely tell a difference between the surround sound mode and normal stereo mode.Sorry, JBL... but you did a HORRIBLE job making a gaming headset and should stay out of this market. This headset isn't even worth what I could buy a cheap wired one for. It's poorly made, functions poorly, and sounds terrible. Either go back to the drawing board and watch some YouTube reviews to see what gamers really want in a headset or cancel the whole line and give up. I honestly will NEVER buy another JBL product again after this experience. If you don't care on price and want a good wireless headset and have a small head, buy Corsairs. If you want one for a big head get Logitech. If you want the best sound for around this cost, buy a gaming amp, mod mic, and the 80 dollar philips headphones here on Amazon. Honestly for the money the Philips/Modmic/Sennheiser amp setup is the best gaming sound I've ever had. But DO NOT waste your money on these.

Craziest sound I've experienced from "gaming" headsets

I've owned a lot of headsets over the years from most of the main brands. Logitech, Turtle Beach, Razer, Steele Series, etc. The JBL Quantum 800 is the first one I've owned that had all the features I wanted. Gamechat/game audio mixer to control the output level balance between the two. Sidetone so that I can hear myself talk (I get a little distracted and tend to talk more loudly when I can't hear myself, I also have ADHD, so it helps me communicate properly as well). Flip-to-mute as well as a mute button. Bluetooth, wireless USB, and an audio jack. Not to mention the JBL Engine is easy to use and has good presets. I will say that tuning the EQ and finding the right setting for me took a little work, but it was worth it. I've been using these to play MW2, and at first the sound was too much to handle. After tuning, I've found the directly sound and sound accuracy to be the best I've ever heard. Can't say anything about how movies or music sound, but for gaming they're great. Got mine on sale for $139 and they've been worth every penny.

3rd Update June 23rd 2021:After they replaced my model for thewhat seems like too many times..The headset has been holding up okay but it hasn't been without issues along the way. Still overall love the design but a bit wonky with the microphone especially after it bends over time and loses its originalform Making it less than idealfor longevity and clarity. Wouldn't highly recommend thisUnless it was on a very decent sale and even then paired with its battery lifeIt's debatable as to whether youwould say you got your money's worth.Originally I got it for the RGB(which is fantastic by the way)I just can't see myself using them however due to how quickly it seems to lose it's chargeparticularlywithout the capability of charging while using which I believe is its biggest flaw! If there's one thing I can mentionin their defense, is that JBL has stood by its product for the duration of time. So I will be loyal-however slightly more cautious upontheir gaming related line of gear.2nd Update:There was a software update and it broke my headphones, they no longer power-on waiting for support as I no longer have working headphones...1st Update:Let me first say the software is pretty finicky.Spent been a couple hours trying to update it..only to give up and go to bed to find out the next morning it was up to date mysteriously.Super so let's get into it.Equalizer works very well,Software is neat,Great highs and lows epic bassline.looks phenomenal like I don't even ever want to go back to the way it was before! In comparison how does it sound to the JBL 400?Significantly better, how is the function in its current state??.. Well let's just say the wired counterpart works out of the box whereas the wireless model needs the firmware updated and that could take some time. (In its current state)Unfortunately no thanks to support haven't really been able to speak to anybody for some reason I was speaking to India's support, and they give me the runaround so I just ended up taking care of it myself.Verdict- As it is my first JBL item and as a hardcore gamer I'd like to think this is a fantastic piece of equipment... My only issue is I'm not sure if one of the speakers is having issues at max volume as it sounds a little shaky. With that said it's definitely worth the money will try to upload better pictures stay tuned, and will keep you updated on The wear and tear.Original review:Was never more excited in my life for but for this headset. Waiting on the edge of my seat all week! f First pair of JBL headphones, and oh boy did I luck out. -_-*Did not include the USB dongle I am not able to connect it to my device as it is missing the USB dongle...???Signs that it may have been opened previously, Will update with further information but as of yet I am unable to test the device.(Looks and feels good but oh wait it's the Quantum 400 series ?!!!!)**Received the wrong model+& Am missing the USB dongle...**--Will write a proper review when I received the proper item.

Use to have a steelseries wired arctis 5 but it was “WIRED” i hate wired. I hate everything that deals with wires, it’s annoying.Anyways, i was looking for steelseries wireless headset that carry rgb lighting but none exist with rgb lighting “WIRELESS “ so i did my research and found this baby right here. The ergonomics are amazing! I don’t get tired of using them, downloading the app to the computer it will let yoh use the other functions with theLighting plus the equalizer as well.Jbl, you will never go wrong with jbl if you choose them. They have alot of good specs! Amazing audio chipsets and 3d sound. My cousins told me my voice sounds like if i was there with them in person while playing warzone on the party chat on the PlayStation 4. I didn’t believe it i doubted them so i asked them why. They told me my voice sounded super clear and no lag. I was pretty amazed to hear that, since wirelessly it can lag, but this didn’t happen. Plus the range is a good range to actually be wireless with the dongle and they have more good things as well, like for example you can charge them usb-c which is faster and plus the hardware is very new and it has double braided wires on the sides in order for the wires to not get damaged easily. It has amazing quality audio components the only downfall is that we cannot use this wirelessly whenever yoh are charging them. Anyways i always chrage them after every battle royale so they always ready to go for my sessions when iPlay with my cousins or my squads.I do strongly recommend them.

I bought 3 headset. The Steelseries Arctis 7+, the Turtle beach stealth 700, and this JBL quantum 800. I've had the first two for about 2 weeks and i wanted a good headset with the same features as the Turtle beach 700. Specifically simultaneously Bluetooth and wireless USB connection use. If the Turtle Beaches weren't so notoriously flimsy with deceptive solidity i would have kept those. So ultimately it is between this 800 and arctis 7+ and i am basically set on keeping these after a few days.Build/comfort: 7/10i feel more comfortable tossing these around (like into a bag, onto a bed, falling off a table or small daily accidents) I wish the pads weren't leather and/or at least had a fabric ear cup like my comparison headsets. Sound isolation is not bad nor is sound leak, not the greatest but average muffles sound to where there's plenty i don't make out sounds well but still hear them to know there is a sound. But when in use i don't even use the Active Noise Canceling because the isolation and volume is enough. They have good weight distribution for my head. I prefer some clamping force to relieve me from feelinge the head band too much. The 800 has a nice balance between the 3 sides. I wear glasses half the time and I've worn worse. I honestly can't complain about glasses with these. I've worn these for more than 10 hours multiple times.Sound: 8/10the sound is good. I was surprised how flat the audio was out the box BUT it wasn't totally flat despite the EQ saying so. At least not compared to the arctis and my srudio monitors. The main issue is if you are going to be using ANC sometimes on and sometimes off. The Low and bass end is stronger ON and weaker OFF. And after adjusting it im still worling on finding a good bass balance because it either stands out too nuch or is too hidden. I couldn't use my EQ sliders from other devices. But the potential is their for great balance if you stick to one mode. The sound stage/surround sound is a bit weird in my opinion. Not bad just different, tighter. I play on PS5 not PC so i am not sure if the JBL surround options affect this, but i do use DTX on the playstation end. I did notice the surround sound got better and less narrow after messing witn the setting on the PC hub when i reconnected it to my playstation (turned it off and on). But after i couldn't tell a difference between on and off. Of my 3 comparisons i think the TB700 weirdly enough had the best sound stage/surround sound for gaming. I would put these 3rd but they do job and it is probably better on PC than playstation. The 3.5mm jack audio is solid. My phone has a built in DAC and LG sound engine. I actually just tested it right now while typing this. Almost want to move the rating to a 9 but i stick to 8. ANC does not work while jacked in, it will turn off anc. When the headset is on your PC settings affect the jack audio BUT it will not stay on if you are not using USB 2.4ghz or Bluetooth.Of the 3 headsets this is the only one without high end distortion.Battery: 5/10Tied for the worst part of the 800. With Lights, USB wireless, Bluetooth, and ANC you are looking at 9-10 hours. With no lights, no ANC, just Bluetooth and USB wireless you are looking at about 24 hours or so. My next test will be with ANC, Bluetooth, USB, and no lights to see how much ANC affects battery and i will update this section.Full charge is between an hour and 2. Very fast. As i am sure you have read the headset will immediately cut power when plugged in and i hate that. But also if there is no sound from USB 2.4ghz or Bluetooth playing for about 20 minutes the headset powers down. And once the battery is at about 25% it will play a warning aound. Then again at aboit 15% and 5%. For my comparison the TB700 does a stagnant voice prompt that is annoying and the arctis does a tone every few minutes which is just as annoying. I do not find the JBL 800 warning annoying. It highlights how the battery isn't THAT bad since the warnings are about an hour or more apart. Plenty of time to give it a 15 minite charge for a solid 20% boost.UPDATE: having the ANC turned on does inconsistently deplete much more of the battery. I lost about 30% in 2 hours. Without ANC and with Bluetooth and 2.4ghz dongle and lights i was losing about 10% an hour. Without ANC or lights i was losing about 10% every 1-3 hours. I lowered the acore from a 6 to a generous 5.Connectivity: begrudgingly 5/10I would love to give these a 10, very few headsets have the 3 options of Bluetooth, 3.5mm jack, and usb 2.4ghz and can use them all simultaneously! Unfortunately the range is non existent. Per my comparison the TB700 cuts in and out at the back door of the house (about 10-15 steps away), the Arctis cuts in and out a bit earlier at the kitchen ( 8-12 steps) and this JBL has the most annoying disconnect reconnect at the just walking out of my room (5-9 steps) the distance is honestly REALLY bad, the worst i can remember of any wireless device. But i can get to the bathroom with both doors, bedroom and bathroom closed ( 3-5 steps) no i am not taking large steps i am size 11 us men and my feet are about a tonail apart each step. If you have a JBL device it plays that sound every time it connects and it plays it even if the connection is interrupted a second. Awful. The connectivity is ironically the worst despite also being the thing i got them for. I suppose turning off while charging falls undee this as well.Oh and the mic does not work with Bluetooth. I read people using it on Bluetooth and tbat being their main use, but apparently mine doesn't. Could be a dud.Mic: 3/10While in PS5 chats no one can tell the difference between this and the other 2 headsets although i can during the mic tests. It is pretty average. The actual mic isn't as ugly as it looked in photos and actually blends in well when swung up. It feels weird how it stiffly can be beny where i want it but hey it works. Weird there is a mute button on the left earcup when swinging up mutes it but great to have a backup if anything happens.UPDATE: after streaming and listening to playback, this is one of the worst sounding mics i have ever used. Plugging earbuds into the ps5 remote sounds better or the same as this. So much background noise, so much digital noise. Horrible low volume voice pickup but drop a pen and you will hear it. Changing my overall score.Other 7/10Esthetically these are very nice with and without the lights. The PC hub software is better than the arctis software in my opinion. Has all the same options plus a little more like saving more than 1 custom EQ. The JBL quantum does not work with any JBL mobile apps unfortunately. And unlike the other 2 i had no issue updating the JBL quantum 800.Overall 5/10I am ultimately keeping the JBL over the other 2 because unlike the TB700 i don't think it will break on its own after a few months and it doesn't have distortion. And unlike the arctis it has simultaneous Bluetooth and 2.4ghz which is my must have feature. If you don't need that feature i absolutely recommend the Steelseries arctis for gaming. But if you are like me and need Bluetooth and USB wireless simultaneously i would recommend the JBL 800. The battery isn't that big an issue, i just think when you compare it to something like the arctis 7+ that can last 30+ hours, makes it seem worse than it actually is. In reality the 10-20 hour battery life (depending if you use lights) is kind of average for audio devices. I think most people will be find getting home from work or school and playing for 2-6 hours with these. I am a typical 10+ hour power player and they have been fine.UPDATE: I. Looking to replace and return these. The mic is just horrible. I was willing to accept the average battery life and extremely short wireless range but adding on how bad the mic is. I would not recommend these for more than $80 or less after tax. I would have been furiously upset if i paid full price for these. These would have been perfect if they didn't waste their time putting lights on it and instead actually made the mic, ANC, and range better.

I wanted this headset so I can field phone calls while gaming on my PC. I was also interested in the noise cancellation, because my house can get pretty loud. I was previously using the Corsair HS70 headset, which at well below $100, is a budget gaming headset. The JBL Quantum 800 headset is fairly comfortable. Not mind blowing, but comfortable enough for long gaming sessions which I tend to have nightly. The audio quality for gaming is very good. There are two surround options, DTS and JBL's surround option. I vastly prefer the DTS - the sound quality is superior to JBL's and is quite immersive. I like it a lot.The main reason I wanted to these was for phone calls while gaming. There are a couple of issues with this.First, the headset, even after being paired, will not automatically connect to my phone. I have at least a dozen different headsets and every other one connects to my phone automatically after pairing. The JBL Quantum 800's simply will not, and I must manually connect them each time.Second, the call quality is very substandard. All of my callers sound muted, and they cannot hear me well either. I noted on a professional review site that these do not use the most current Blue Tooth codec so I assume that is the cause for the substandard call quality.I was also interested in the active noise cancelling, aka ANC. The ANC is functional, but like the Blue Tooth call quality, it is very average. If you really need ANC, I would not recommend these. I would say they are about 60% as effective as my other ANC headsets, including my budget Cowin E7 headset. Oddly, the audio quality on the JBL's drops noticeably when ANC is turned off, even when there is no outside noise. So, regardless of conditions, I just leave ANC on.The mike quality seems fine. I am on discord quite a bit and everyone seems able to hear me just fine. Unfortunately I cannot enable side tone while also using the ANC, so I can't really hear the sound of my voice when chatting. It's a minor irritant but worth noting. The battery life is good, which is a pro since you can't use them while charging. They are also USB C which is great. So would I recommend these for $200? Nope. They try and offer three important features: game audio, call audio, and ANC. They definitely succeed on the first (game audio) but largely fail on the other two, so if you just primarily need a quality gaming headset, there are plenty of much cheaper alternatives.I like the quality of the game audio but I really bought these so I could also take calls without changing headsets while gaming. I don't really use the JBLs for calls because of the poor quality, so I will probably send them back. The search continues.

I picked this JBL Quantum 800 headset up to replace a Logitech g933 gaming headset that for all intents and purposes I felt like that was a great headset until something happened to make the speakers 1st intermittently cut out and then gradually stop working all together. I'm going to be comparing my new headset to those.First off the active noise cancelation is a game changer the G933's did a great job of blocking out sound but the the ANC just takes it to the next level. I think the sound quality is also a bit better than the G933s as well but I will admit that I'm no audiophile and could care less about an audiophiles opinion. One thing that's Kind of a minus for me is the ear cushions. I do prefer cloth ear cushions over leather or pleather. I'm not sure which these are But with clothe your ears don't get noticeably sweaty and if the ear pads get nasty you can wash and dry them easily. I find that pleather tends to start flaking and pealing after a year or 2 of use and both leather and pleather tend to make my ears feel pretty swampy after about an hour or so of use. But this is a preference so use this info as you like. The Quantum 800's are lighter than the G933s so that's a plus and they also seem to fit my head very well. A lot of people complained about how the G933s staid or didn't stay on their heads when they were articulating but I never noticed and issue with them or these new headphones. So far I'm very pleased with these headphones I only hope that they fair better than my G933's did.

I bought this headset when my Corsair Void stopped holding a charge. I use wireless headsets to be able to walk around my house while on phone conferences, listen to quality music while doing the dishes, etc. I prefer to not be tethered to my desk. I will be comparing this headset to the Corsair Void which is a cheaper headset but of profound quality. I think in hindsight I should of just bought a new void.Sound Quality without the downloaded software is worse. Voices are clear but game sounds are a bit flat and the base leaves much to be desired. With their software you get the 7.1 surround sound and some really fantastic depth however on my system their software is prone to crashes and glitches and it reverts back to basics. I run this on Windows 10 OS and have all the proper drivers installed it just is a glitchy software for me.Noise Cancellation is MUCH BETTER. I have never had a headset so fantastic as noise cancellation. I can barely hear anything outside of the headset when I'm wearing it. My poor husband has to frantically wave his arms to get my attention now.Comfort is comparable, both are full cups over the ears with padded cushions. The adjustments for the headband are much better with this headset and it is not as heavy. One last thing which knocked a star off for me, you cannot use this headset while it is charging. It turns off. I'm sure it'll help the longevity of its battery but it forces me to keep an alternative headset in case I'm on for longer than 8-10 hours. It also will auto-power off after a few minutes of no sound which means that while I'm working I constantly have to turn it back on.
