A bit on the flimsy side, but worth every penny to Samsung TV owners
By MM on Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2021
First off, if you're buying this GE remote just to replace a Samsung remote, this GE remote does a great job of that but you're better off buying a genuine Samsung remote since the genuine Samsung remotes are more durable than this one. This GE remote copies the same layout of BN-type Samsung remotes and it works perfectly on my Samsung TV. The back button works as it should, unlike the other GE remotes on Amazon. Every button does everything as it should, and I notice this remote does a speedy job of going through the menus on my 2019 Samsung TV running Tizen. I never felt like this remote couldn't keep up with how fast I went through the TV's OS. This GE isn't backlit except the power button which lights up red, but then again, the BN-type remotes aren't backlit either. Overall, this is a great Samsung TV remote replacement, but if you want something sturdier, get the original Samsung remote. However, if you need to control more than just your Samsung TV, keep reading! This GE/Jasco remote is a bit on the flimsy side but it's sturdy enough for daily use. I would compare it to the build quality of a Fire TV stick remote. It's a lightweight plastic that feels sturdy enough for daily use, but if you have kids or a dog who love to destroy remotes, this remote won't last as long as the genuine Samsung remotes, which use a harder, thicker, heavier plastic body. The buttons on this GE remote are also pretty decent and feel like they will last, but the buttons on the original Samsung BN-type remotes feel more robust, better textured, and purposely designed. Are the buttons on the GE remote bad? Not at all! They feel good as you navigate menus on your TV, but they just don't feel as good as the buttons on the Samsung remote, which are more raised, rounded, textured and uniquely shaped. Overall, you're not buying this GE remote for the build quality, but the quality you get is definitely worth the 8 bucks, especially the next aspect of this remote...The real value of this 8 dollar GE remote is that not only does it do a perfect job of replacing the functions of a BN-type Samsung TV remote, but it also lets you control 3 other devices, which the BN-type remotes do not do. I was able to control a Bose mini system and an Xfinity X1 XG1v4 box with this remote. Does it have ALL the functions of the original Bose and Xfinity remotes? Nope. Does it do the essentials, like turning the devices on, changing the volume on the mini system and changing the channels on the Xfinity box? Yes, absolutely. If you want to control a bunch of things along with your Samsung TV remote, this GE remote actually works. It won't be as robust as an 300 dollar Harmony remote, but it costs only 8 bucks. It's worth every penny.

It doesn't work with Fire Tv
By Lance Holley on Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2024
Describe says it works with most Fire Tv remotes. That may be true. But if you bought your fire stick or a Fire TV cube recently it will not work. The way it works is your fire remote slips into the back. You use that to control your fire stick or firebox flip it over. It can show us your TV except the newer fire stick remotes are too big to fit in the case there's no way you can fit it in. This flip thing. Sounds like fun but it really doesn't work.
