Best action camera

It can shoot 4K at 50/60 frames per second, and the image quality in this video mode is perfect on a bright day (but degrades a lot indoors and in the night - the noise becomes annoying once the ISO setting goes beyond 800). The electronic stabilization is great under a bright light. In dim light the electronic stabilization results into artifacts that ruin the image (so you should either use a gymbal, or mount it to a heavy stable object, or freeze when shooting your video). 2.7K seems to be a fake mode added for marketing purposes only - the quality looks the same as when upsampling the image shot in 1080. But the 4K video quality blows all competitor cameras away.

Faulty software and support

The camera is rugged and can take nice videos of adventures. But there is a huge downside. If you pay $50 dollars a year you get unlimited cloud storage and supposed no questions asked trade-ins if you break your camera. There is a fee of 99 dollars or more to do so. The problem is with the app and the upload process to get the videos to the cloud. You can set it up to where anytime you plug it in it'll check if there's new data on it. If there is, it will automatically upload to the cloud. But that hardly ever works. Probably two out of five videos will stay on the sd card in the camera. At that point, it will then say there is no new media to upload, even though all the videos haven't uploaded. Combine that with having to fight for sometimes an hour to get your phone/app and camera to communicate. The camera itself isn't bad if you just want to use the camera and a large hard drive with an expensive computer built to handle 4k video editing. But that's not the normal person. I was told that if I wanted to trade my camera in for the same thing I could for a price of 99.00. Why would I have to pay for something that isn't broke, but just doesn't work? Just be warned that there are plenty of complaints on these issues and many more online in the forums. Do your research and find what works best for you. I know plenty of people that love GoPro. They just haven't had the experience I continue to have with them.
