These Are $500 Headphones
By Andrew Morales on Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2022
About 2 years ago I wanted a pair of in-ear headphones with good sound quality. I was getting tired of listening to the AirPods Pros and needed something fatter that could offer more detail & depth. I originally spent $300 on the Sennheiser Momentum 2 and at first I liked them, but could tell no matter how loud I made them, there was still this "hollowed out" sound I couldn't sit with. They sounded good, but it wasn't enough. After researching Sennheiser's website I found their most expensive In-Ear Headphones at the time The IE 80s BT for $500. Built in DAC. Lossless Bluetooth Audio Codecs. I didn't know much about digital audio converters or bluetooth codecs but I knew wired was better, because I used to have the Bose QC15 and going wireless was never the same. These headphones essentially brought the resolution comparable to CD quality. What a leap in Technology! I check amazon, and it's on sale for $300! The same price as the Momentums! Perfect! The sound quality was exactly what I was looking for. I have the Nuraphones, I have the Sennhieser 6xx from Massdrop, I have a pair of Yamaha HS5 studio monitors. Sony wh-1000xm2, Bose Quietcomfort 15 & 20 and late IE2 Bose in-ear headphones. I have Skullcandy ink'd, AirPods and AirPods pro. When I want full immersion for my listening, the IE 80s BT are my go to every time. These headphones will change the way you listen to music, and are well worth the compromises. I compromise on form factor and battery life for high fidelity audio. Using the comply tips they fit snuggly in the ear, and so comfortable I easily forget about them. The loop around the ear so they stay in, sometimes it can get annoying with glasses or wearing a mask around my ears, but again worth the slight inconvenience. Watching movies are incredible... You get so much detail the sound brings you into the scene. You can put them at full volume and literally feel the kick drum and snare hits beating against your eardrum. The sound stage is impeccable... after 2 years of using these headphones they still manage to exceed my expectations. The sound is remarkable and they do not disappoint. There are hiccups with the product... I prefer to have an uninterrupted listening experience but occasionally the headphones will say "headphones disconnected" then immediately resume. I know the bluetooth codecs are transmitting a lot of data, but it doesn't need to waste its breath to tell me it skipped like a vinyl record. Another slight annoyance is sometimes upon powering on the connection says it's there but the music doesn't play, so then I have to hold the power button so it goes into pairing as restarts....because the pairing button is the power button. I appreciate the onboard volume control. They are soft and click, and they move the volume in half steps so you can find the perfect volume to fill your ears. Theres also a little beep when you reach the highest volume so you know the limit. I wish there was a way to turn off that functionality but it's easy to live with. The manual base adjustment is great... just set it to the middle... too much bass can cause ear fatigue and cloud the music, and too little isn't enough. I lost my bass adjustment key so it's staying there :D They also come in handy for phone calls or discord when I'm cross platform gaming with friends, because I can wear the gaming headset over one ear and still talk through the mic around the neck loop. I recommend these headphones to any friend that appreciates listening to music, I even buy it for family & friends as birthday presents because this purchase has brought the simple pleasure of good listening back to it's ideal state. in my life, and they were $300 at the time.

Avoid the IE80S BT and buy the wired IE80S.
By WS on Reviewed in the United States on September 1, 2020
Summary: I believe this is a failed attempt at creating a wireless set of earphones for audiophiles. Sound Quality: I owned the old IE80 For 6 years now and I was extremely disappointed when I tried those for the first time. I could not believe that IE80s BT is a true Sennheiser IE series. Yes, the sound is clear and yes the base and soundstage are OK. But these are nothing compared to the old IE80 even over the AAC codec (using Iphone XS). Actually, everything about the IE80s BT is very toned down version of what I am used to with the old earphones (base, volume, punch, clarity). Because I love the Sennheiser brand and was skeptic about the sound quality, I decided to remove the earphones from the bluetooth extension and plug them into the old IE80 cable. And..... WOW, The difference is night and day. The awesome sound expected from this pair of earbuds is back. The deep base, the instruments separation, the clarity and sound stage are all very apparent. Suddenly, the music started sending chills through my spine. This is how Sennheiser IE series should sound. They are even better than my old IE80 which were the best earphones I have ever tried. It turns out that the bluetooth extension is a useless piece of technology that has dramatically deteriorated the sound quality in an attempt to make those earphones wireless. Sennheiser, please do not do such compromise again! Battery Life: The battery life is below average, if you listen to music every day and use the IE80s BT for phone calls/ audio conferences (now that we are all working from home), you will find yourself in need to charge it almost every day. Features: Nothing that deserves to be noticed. It does give however an indication on when the battery is charged or needs to be recharged. I could also say that the ear hooks design is comfortable and the neck band is light. The smartphone app is very basic. Bottom Line: If you are an audiophile looking for true Sennheiser that gives justice to sound quality, buy the wired IE80S. If sound is not your thing and you are after some good earbuds but wireless is what matters to you, then the airpods pro will be a much better option from price/ battery life and features perspective.
