These little speakers pack some punch. They offer better bass response than I expected for the size. The clarity and volume is plenty for a desk setup. I have been running these for over a year both with and without a sub woofer, powered by a Douk Audio 200W tube amp. They sound great and have a very stout build quality.

okay speakers for the money

No, they're not "audiophile" speakers to say the least but they're fine for the price. I'm using these as surrounds for my home theater, and the frequency range is good because I can set the crossover to 80hz. The sound is clean and doesn't sound scratchy. The major issue is that the sound is highly localized. When you hear them, they sound good but you'll be extremely conscious of where the sound is coming from. You won't have that satisfying feeling of being surrounded by a bubble of sound since the sound stage they create isn't expansive. It may be tempting to get them because, hey, $130 just isn't that much. But if you save up for three times that amount you'll get forever speakers you won't be upgrading from for a very long time. I am speaking of the HTM-200SE. Those are my mains and they'll be serving me well for years in my current space.
