My Backcountry Battery Savior
By TheLawIsSacred on Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2025
As an avid hiker and outdoor enthusiast, I always seek gear to keep up with my adventures. The Anker PowerCore Essential 20K has become indispensable to my pack, ensuring I stay connected and powered up even on the most extended hiking treks. Here's why I'm so impressed: Never Miss a Summit Selfie: With 20,000mAh, this power bank has enough juice to charge my iPhone multiple times, guaranteeing I can capture those epic summit selfies and navigate with my GPS without worrying about a dead battery. It's been a lifesaver on overnight camping trips and those ambitious day hikes that stretch longer than planned. Fast Charging on the Trail: The PowerIQ technology intelligently detects and delivers the optimal charging speed for my devices. My Google Pixel 9 charges surprisingly fast, even when I'm taking a break on a mountain ridge. Dual USB Ports for Gear Compatibility: I can charge two devices simultaneously, which is incredibly convenient when I need to power up my phone and my headlamp after a long day on the trail. Surprisingly Packable: Despite its large capacity, this power bank is relatively slim and lightweight. It fits comfortably in my backpack without weighing me down, which is crucial when every ounce counts on those challenging ascents. Anker Durability for Rugged Use: Anker is known for its durable and reliable charging products, and this power bank is no exception. It's survived bumps, drops, and even a close encounter with a rogue marmot (don't ask). A Couple of Trailside Considerations: While I'm delighted with this portable charger, there are a couple of minor drawbacks to keep in mind: No USB-C Output: This power bank only has USB-A output ports, which means you'll need a USB-A to USB-C cable to charge newer devices that use USB-C. This isn't a dealbreaker, but it's something to be aware of when packing your gear. Can Get a Bit Toasty: Some users have reported that the power bank can get warm during charging, especially when charging multiple devices. I've noticed this, but it hasn't been a significant concern for me, even in warmer weather. Overall: Despite these minor points, the Anker PowerCore Essential 20K is an excellent portable charger with an outstanding capacity, speed, and portability balance for outdoor enthusiasts like me. As with most Anker products, it is a reliable and affordable option that has become an essential part of my hiking and camping gear.

Eventually was a safety hazard but lasted
By Kristin on Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2025
The portable charger charges my S21 Ultra just a little slower than my turbo wall charger, which I think is great. I find the size to be in between slim and bulky. I use this all the time when traveling. Be sure to occasionally take it out of the case. I did not do this and when I did, found that the battery had swelled and cracked. I'm not sure how long it has been like this. I will discontinue use.
