Great all around smartwatch with excellent battery life!!!

UPDATE 11/14/2020: Over 10 months of owning this watch. It is generally great. The biggest gripe I have is the touchy charging. Half of the time when I put it on the charge (original charger I got with the watch), it doesn't even register that it's on a charger. Far less frequently, it starts charging but stops later and I return to find a dead watch. I also wish the watch had some kind of warning notification when the battery is low, because once it switches to LCD-only mode, I struggle to get it to turn back on or to charge. When the battery isn't an issue, though, the watch is great. I contemplated "upgrading" to the new TicWatch, but there's no LTE version yet. I'll likely wait another generation to see what happens with Wear OS. UPDATE 1/10/2020: I've had the watch now for almost two weeks now. I've gotten quite used to it. I usually wait until it's below 20% or so to charge it, and it takes about 1.5 hours to charge. I typically do this while I'm working so I don't mess up my step count. I really don't understand why people complain about battery life. I don't have to charge the watch any more often than I expect (I get about 1.5 days of HEAVY use out of it). This includes daily walks tracked using Google Fit, lots of music controls, and lots of notifications and messaging. Here are my other observations so far: -WEAR OS - still not was good as iOS, it's getting better. There aren't a lot of apps, but the ones that do exist work well (Maps, Messages, Fit, Keep, etc.) all work well. Just don't expect many non-Google apps. Tasker does have an extension for Wear OS, but I haven't explored it yet - that could offer a ton of additional possibilities. -GOOGLE ASSISTANT - this is the game-changer here. Anything you can do with Assistant, you can now do on your watch! I can control my smart home devices, including Sonos, SmartThings, Harmony, August, etc. Like Tasker, the possibilities are endless. Related to this, the voice recognition on the watch is AMAZING. The best I've seen, ever. When I respond to text messages using voice, it has a 99.9% success rate, including punctuation! -TIC SLEEP - I didn't realize that this is a separate app you need to install on the watch. Once I did, it works great. No issues detecting sleep or wake up. There are two areas for future improvement: (1) Google Fit integration (Mobvoi confirmed to me in an email that they're working on this); and (2) the smart/gentle alarm function (it just doesn't work as they describe; in the same email, Mobvoi said they will look into this). -CUSTOMIZING - don't be afraid to search Google Play if there's something about the watch you don't like. I had two instances of this: (1) the screen timeout was too fast for me, so I downloaded an app (StayLit Wear) that keeps the screen on until I lower my wrist; and (2) I wanted to track my watch battery while it charges, so I found another app (Wear Battery Full) that does that (it also sends a notification when it's full, so you can get it back on your wrist). Neither of these are Mobvoi issues; they're deficiencies with Wear OS - but easily solved. ORIG REVIEW: Great watch. I'm a prior Samsung Gear Watch user. Wear OS is great, if only because of Google Fit and Google Assistant. Fit is awesomely simple. And Assistant can do it all. So much better than Bixby. Essential mode is cool too. I use that 99.9% of the time with wrist rotation off. Couldn't be happier with a smart watch. The Apple Watch is superior, sure. But for Android users this is pretty darn good!

Save your money for a Pro 3

I thought I would love this, as the descriptions made it sound like just what I wanted. It's useable, but way too pricey for a low-mid range watch. After a week of use, here's the details: - It's EXTREMELY slow, taking 30-60 seconds to boot up, and apps take a lot longer than they should. - The health options are mostly inaccurate. - The weather feature requires you to be connected to your phone in order to update the information. Even it you turn on the location option in your watch, and are getting a very strong internet signal, you still have to rely on the phone. - Yes, you can remap one of the physical buttons, but there's not much to do with it. Also, they have very little travel, so it's easy to accidently push them. - Using the option to flick your wrist is basically useless, and becomes physically painful after a few tries. - The vibration redefines weak, with no intensity settings. You get 3 options - one very short vibration, 2 very short ones in a row, and one "long" one which lasts a whopping half a second. If you're planning to rely on this for notifications, you'll miss almost every single one. - As this is an older watch, you won't be getting the Wear OS 3 coming later this year. - The battery only lasts 3 days even if all of the features are off, and it's not being used. Their "2-30 days" isn't exactly accurate. If you use the main features, you'll be lucky to get a day's worth. At least it charges fast, but you can't use it at all while it's charging. - Speaking of charging, is uses a very awkward proprietary magnetic dock. The magnet on it is extremely strong, so make sure you keep it away from things that might be sensitive to it. The dock doesn't always make contact with the watch, so make sure that it's actually charging before you leave it. Also, the cord is extremely short. - If you want ease of use, you absolutely won't find it here, as all of the basic settings are hidden deep inside multiple menus. - You basically need to rely on your phone's app for customization. Yes there are a TON of new watch faces you can get, but if you want to actually see them, you need to do it through your phone. You can't see previews of them on the watch, only their names. - The secondary screen reminds of the old Nintendo Game Boy, where you need to have direct lighting and be looking straight at it in order to actually see it. It's a great concept, but poorly implemented. - The screen timeout is 5 seconds, with no option to increase it. If you're hunting deep in the settings or trying to read something, and need to stop for a few seconds, it turns off & goes to the secondary screen. It also reverts to the home menu, so you get the joy of starting all over again. I've searched everywhere in every single menu, and there's no way change it, not even in the display settings. In order to do so, you need to buy a $2 app. - The phone features are locked to Verizon. If you want to use them, you get to enjoy spending even more money. - The Wear OS 3 update is coming later this year, but you won't be getting it, since it's an older model. If you're only planning on only using it to tell time, or using very basic features, then just get a budget one that might cost $30. If you want something that works, get one of the Pro 3 models.
