Works Great
By Hawkeye on Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2019
I have a Microsoft Surface Pro 7 I purchased in November. It is a great 2 in 1 laptop, but I needed the ability to project my screen and use additional USB ports. The USB C Hub by TOTU is perfect for the job. It has a medal case with a sharp looking design to it. It is also light weight, which makes it perfect for carrying around with my Surface Pro 7. It also came with a nice carrying bag for storage. I am using the HDMI and VGA ports for display and they both work superbly. There are times I need the VGA for an old school projector connection and I simply plug it in and it works. I can use duplicate screen or extended screen with no problem. I have shown video with this and the quality is great! Just plug and play, it is really that simple. Also, when I use the VGA port, the Microphone/Audio port works great projecting my sound through the speaker attached to the projector. Of course, the HDMI is a better picture and I have used it with a TV and projector. The HDMI transmits sound also, so it not only gives a better picture it is more convenient for sound. This device has two HDMI and 1 VGA so you can actually have three screens projecting at once and with the extend screen option I can have a movie on another monitor or tv while I do other things on my Surface Pro 7. This is a perfect 10 when it comes to video. Another great feature is the USB ports. There are 2, 2.0 USB ports, and 2, 3.0 USB ports. I can hook up my external DVD drive to show a movie or copy information from a CD if needed. I can also use the additional USB ports for external mouse and keyboard when I am connected to an external monitor. All USB ports work just as you expect them too, another perfect 10 for the USB ports. For even more convenience this USB C Hub has an ethernet connector. This allows me to take my Surface Pro 7 to the modem and connect it directly to it for internet speed testing. There are also times when I need an ethernet connection so I will be nice to have this with me. Again, this is a perfect 10 for this little device. Not only does this have all of these packaged together in a very compact device, but you also get SD/TF Cards Reader. This is very convenient for taking a card from an outdoor camera and being able to copy it directly to my computer. This is really just icing on the cake for a very well-built device that offers everything I need to make my Surface Pro 7 more productive. Everything has worked just as expected, so my overall review of this is a perfect 10. I have had no issues with this device.

Died
By goodwink on Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2019
UPDATE: Died 14 months in. Used for 6-7 months and then moved to a single monitor setup. Then about 2 months ago, I started using it again. It worked fine until yesterday, when I moved it from one laptop to another, at which point it wasn't being detected and I started to smell burning electronics. I unplugged it and it was extremely hot to the touch. Waited a couple of hours and tried again just to make sure it was dead. When I shake it, I can hear something rattling around inside. I put it in two ziplock bags and can still smell the burning electronics odor leaking out. Guessing the warranty expired after 12 months, but can't find anything online. Too bad, because it only had about 9 months of daily use. Original review: Was looking for something inexpensive to connect two displays to a new laptop, Lenovo X1 carbon win10 pro. It does the job perfectly, when it works. I can run the laptop display and two external 1080p monitors for basic business apps. However, if the computer sleeps or locks, the monitors may not come back properly. I have them set to extend the desktop, but when it doesn’t work right, I get a clear picture on the laptop screen, but the two externals are duplicating the laptop and are at something like 600x400 resolution. I have to unplug the USBc from the laptop and plug back in to resolve, sometimes 3 or 4 times. When resolved, it reverts back to the correct ‘extended desktop’. It also has an issue with my wireless mouse dongle. The mouse will freeze and lag when the dongle is plugged into the hub, but works flawlessly when plugged directly into the laptop. I have tried all the USB ports on the hub and all experience the same issue. Usb3 external HD works fine plugged into hub. It is OK if you are willing to work around the issues, and what else do you expect for the money.
