Works Great! The Best Radar Detector Purchase I have ever made.

I own this, and purchased it a long time ago before receiving items to review. I have been extremely happy with its performance, features and support! There may be slightly fancier models available from other manufacturers, maybe Uniden by now; (I haven't checked the market recently) but this is all you really need. It gives great alerts, allows you to adjust the display, has a mute/mark button on the power cable and is reasonably priced. I also own the Escort 9500i. It is a great detector as well. Neither has let me down. The only tickets I have received are when I'm letting my mind wander while driving, or really listening to my music instead of the detectors. The big difference? You must PAY for database updates with the Escort. Another Subscription!!! The nice, customer service oriented people at Uniden, on the other hand, regularly update the database and DON'T charge you to do so. Simply download, hook up and update. Performance compared between the two models has been the same for me. I realize newer models are out now, but comparing what I own, I'm sticking with Uniden. This detector works great, and you can't beat the database and firmware updates @ no additional cost.

I didn't like it
By Just A Guy on Reviewed in the United States on April 23, 2025
I have a R3 for my daily driver. I bout the R7 for my new car that mostly sits in the garage. I was excited to try out a detector with arrows to assist with ID-ing the source, but it wasn't very useful IMO. The R7 is way bigger than the R3 and the power plugs into the other side which I didn't like at all. The worst part was that the buttons are all on top of the detector...including the mute button. FFS that's the button I use the most and I can't reach it because I place the detector as high as possible in my very low car to improve sight distance. There's no room for my finger between the detector and my visor. And yet there's plenty of space on the front of the larger R7 for buttons. Bad design choice IMO. So I returned it and bought another R3. Did it work? As far as I can tell, after just a few days, it worked as well as my R3.
