Earbuds with Quality and a Secure Fit
By Cenaskya on Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2019
I use Audio Technica ATH-M50x over-ear headphones for the majority of my music listening. I love them for their clarity and high fidelity. However, it's a real pain to tote them around everywhere, especially traveling, so I decided that I'd look for some high-quality *wireless* earbuds. I have always found that wired earbuds fall out of my ears easily due to the wire getting caught on pretty much everything, hence the wireless requirement. AirPods were out since no Apple earbuds have ever fit my ears and there seem to be hundreds of options to choose from otherwise. I am very picky with my earbuds due to being spoiled by my ATH-M50x, so sound quality was a top priority. Then, I found these. While I think it's pretty impossible for any earbuds to provide the crystal clear sound of my ATH-M50x over-the-ear wired headphones, the HELM Audio True Headphones have come pretty close. I would give it a five-star rating, except for the heavier bass than I am used to. This was easily fixed using EQ Bass Reducer in my music settings, so take it with a grain of salt. As for the fit, the default size tips that come already installed on the earbuds were slightly too small for my ears, and they began to slip out. This was easily remedied by the two other sizes in the box, plus the real MVP: the Comply memory foam earphone tips. These things hold better in my ears than any other earbuds I've ever tried. Seriously, they're like magic. Plus, they are exceptional at noise-canceling. While not as extreme as wearing earplugs, they provide an airtight seal that keeps almost all external noise out of my listening experience. As for the rest of the features, like the portable charging case, the control buttons on each earbud, and the sound quality of the microphone: the case holds a charge well and keeps your earbuds safe when they're not in use. The control buttons do exactly what they say, I especially like the fact that the left earbud allows you to skip forward/backward a track. The built-in microphone in the earbuds is not their best feature since the quality is grainy and sounds like I'm far away (tested using Voice Memos app), but it's functional for hands-free calling. I don't plan on taking a lot of calls in the future, although the built-in microphone on my phone is noticeably better, so if I have to I'll probably use my phone. I'm not sure why a few people seem to be having trouble setting them up correctly. All I had to do was hold the buttons of both earbuds until they connected to each other (which they will announce once complete). Follow the instructions and I see no reason why they shouldn't work. All in all, I'm very satisfied with my purchase of the HELM Audio True Headphones. If you're looking for some quality wireless earbuds for a great price, look no further than these.

Trading off good sound quality for poor battery life and uncomfortable fit
By Amazon Customer on Reviewed in the United States on August 21, 2019
I bought these to replace a pair of wireless (but not true wireless) JBL earbuds I have been using for about a year. I was excited to purchase these because they are affordably priced and have good reviews, both on Amazon and other websites. When I received them I had no problem connecting them to the Bluetooth on my phone and my initial impressions were positive. I even tried them while working out and they stayed in place. However, when I used them for my daily commute, I realized that my ears were hurting after less than an hour of wearing them. The next day I tried a different pair of tips, but still experienced the same discomfort and pain. On top of that, I would have to charge the buds midday because the battery life only lasts about 3-3 1/2 hours. With all that being said, while the sound quality of these earbuds is very good, the discomfort I experienced and the short battery life were big deal breakers for me. If you're someone, however, that has less sensitive ears or would only be using these for short intervals, these might be a good purchase if you want to stay at a price more affordable than most quality true wireless earbuds out right now.
