Surprisingly good value

First off let's get this out of the way. These have a V sound signature, I knew this going in. It's not a good choice if you want to understand dialogue if you're living in an apartment because you have to turn them up. It's comparable to the Klipsch signature many love but has a warmth to them that Klipsch doesn't. Pro's -Attractive design -A fun but slightly warmed V sound signature -Compact -Surprising amount of bass for the driver size Cons -Lack of the very upper end sparkle expected with these kinds of V sound signatures. This probably contributes to the slight perceived warmth. Conclusion These are fun little delights to listen to. Dialogue can be a bit muted at lower volumes thus requiring you to turn them up. That's just fine by me because it was expected with this type of sound signature. If you're a fan of the V sound these will be a nice treat to experience that sound with a drizzle of warmth to it.

I will try to do my best to talk about these but ive only had them a few hours of this review. So First Impressions. I run a mitsubishi turntable into a douk phono tube amp into a sony 190 amplifier. My first set of speakers were klipsch rp-41s. So i bought these because thw klipsch really lack low end for obvious reasons, 4” drivers. So after playing my test albums from red hot chili peppers, midland, metallica and even linkin park. This is my opinion: These speakers are muddy with any sort of bass boost from your amp. I cut out my bass boost and it cleared it up so the mudiness came from about the 200hz range. Even flat they lack clear mid range, i noticed especially with the RHCP stuff. To be honest im unhappy with the S809s by themselves. But, i ran them along sode of my 41s and it was exactly the sound i was looking for. It seems to be that they compliment each other, the klipsch bringing the clear and openess while the S800s fill the room with beefy bass. Im going to be doing aome more tweaking of settings but i believe ill get it where i want it. Also the Jamos need so much more power to drive.
