Refurbished - Excellent Quality - 5 stars
By Phillip on Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2024
I've been looking at getting the LG PF50KA for a really long time. It still retails at $600 and honestly that is so expensive to me for any projector. The main reasons I've wanted this particular unit is the portability, the battery, the various ports and connectivities, and because LG is a reputable brand. I really enjoy watching movies outdoors at night when camping, but also like watching cable/TV events and movies at home. This unit allows for all of that as you can connect cable or an antenna for over the air local TV channels. It even has a guide built in with its local TV tuner. This is something I've not found on any other projectors. The battery on board is a plus too, and it's usb C Port that you can also use with a USB power bank to charge/power the projector (if using a power bank to give you more projection time when without power, make sure your power bank/station supports 100watts power out and it will work perfectly). And as far as battery powered projectors go, I couldn't really find any with 600 ansi lumens that have comparable features as this projector. So that's why I've really wanted this unit. Now to get to my review... I got the refurbished unit (excellent) through Amazon. I was a little nervous with it being renewed, but the $216 compared to $600+ made me just go out on a limb. And I am happy I did! Pics in review to show all of the below. The first thing I noticed was the unit came in the original box and packaging (not sure if each renewed unit will, but was cool to see). The second thing I noticed before even setting this up was that it came with all the original LG pieces - the original remote, the original power adapter, and the original manual. And the unit itself absolutely looks and functions as a brand new unit. There's not one single thing I can find on the device, controller, power adapter, or anything that suggests it's not a brand new unit. I think this really gives a lot of bonus points to the company that is selling these refurbished units. This is how you do refurbished folks. It looks and functions identically to a new unit, that retails $400 more than this unit costs. You could buy 3 of these for the price of 1 new unit. Now let's get to the picture quality. For insight, I am using a 100" ALR grey screen that I got off Temu for $13 (a steal compared to the prices in the US and works as expected). In the pics and videos, you may notice lines going up and down and a blueish hue - this is due to my camera and you do not see this in person at all. The image quality is great. You don't see individual pixels, the image is smooth, has great contrast, is not dull, and you can tweak it so many various ways... I still find myself changing the settings constantly, just to tweak to get an even better image quality. At 600 ANSI lumens this is pretty decent in brightness, considering it's size and that it's battery operated, that's great! That's where the grey screen comes in again... If you want a more saturated image and one that is easier to see with ambient light, this will be a major improvement. (Keep in mind with ALR screens you should have at eye level as possible and project from a table directly in front of the screen close to eye level as well, as the best image quality on these screens is directly in front - if you move below or towards the sides the image quality is not so great - and this is for all ALR anti light rejecting screens.) Using affirm I was able to steal this bad boy for like $54, with 3 bi-weekly payments of $54. As opposed to $600! If you see this deal and are nervous about it being renewed, don't be, grab this quick! I hope this review helps someone!

Renewed Purchase
By Christopher Rodriguez on Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2023
I purchased this as a renewed (refurbished) device. The condition was great, device worked as expected. Before purchasing be aware of the following, the software is outdated, the device is no longer receiving updates. The brightness is very poor, even in a pitch black room. Image quality is satisfactory, port availability is great, and it’s a lightweight battery powered unit. I recommend this for kids, this should not be used as the main driver of your home entertainment as a budget TV will outperform this in brightness, contrast, saturation, and image quality.
