Product meets expectations
By Yan Nasonov on Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2022
I bought this item as an experiment, as there was a number of times when I needed a heat camera in non-professional settings. After doing some research, this is the product I selected. Overall it does not disappoint. * Setup: relatively easy, though it requires downloading the Flir app. * Ergonomics: very good—it fits easily into the phone's USB port, and does not make the phone significantly bigger or bulkier. There is a wheel that fastens the camera so it doesn't fall off. * Packaging and handling: the little camera case is neat and looks professional, but the camera and case are built together in such a way that the easiest way to put the camera in the case is by putting a finger on the lens – a small but annoying design oversight. I've had to clean the lens basically every time. * Picture quality: be aware that infrared/heat cameras are not mainstream products, so the amount of R&D that goes into them is small. Therefore, even the best cameras have a very low resolution. Perhaps today infrared cameras are at the point that "normal" digital cameras were 25–30 years ago. Having said that, this camera has a good enough resolution to perform basic tasks like detecting leaks. We have a couple of decades to wait until infrareds can be used for photography too.

Not for Professionals
By Chris M. on Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2019
I bought this camera to assist with blower door leak detection and retrofitting work. After receiving the FIR One Pro camera I plugged it into my cell let the battery drain and recharged per the instructions. At first glance the camera worked great looking around my living room you could pick out cold spots in the ceiling, around the fireplace etc. I was quite impressed. After the first full charge of about 2 hrs I plugged the camera back into my cell and it wouldn't turn on. Randomly after a few minutes I got it working again. Then the battery started showing that it was draining 1% every 10 seconds. After it decreased to about 80% I turned it off and back on again. Then the battery sat at 83% for 10 minutes. I was confused. So I removed the FLIR set it down and tried again the next morning. This time I needed to inspect an air handler in an attic. Again the FLIR would not turn on, the power button was orange and I could not get it to go green by pressing quickly, holding for 3 seconds, nothing. While up in the attic I pulled out my phone and noticed the FLIR was on! WTF? SO I snapped a few pics and watched as the battery started to quickly drain from 23% downward. Then as I moved around the attic the FLIR popped out of the port and landed in some insulation. The point of this story is that if you plan on buying this as a novelty item to use while sitting on the couch it will work fine. I cannot trust its reliability or performance to use while performing inspections or to report out to customers because it is not made to withstand normal use as an add on and I am not confident it will boot up when I need it to. Good idea poorly produced product.
