Absolutely thrilled! My new PC speakers.
By Munchies The Sockmonkey on Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2019
Having been spoiled with using the Logitech Z-5500 (granddaddy of all PC speaker systems) for many years, those finally went kaput so I was in desperate need for a replacement. I decided to try a soundbar this time and am absolutely thrilled to report that these speakers really rock for gaming and movies. Physical setup was really easy, soundbar connected to PC via optical audio connection, although a plethora of additional connections can be made. I connected my Stanton record player to the rca connection as well. The subwoofer connects wirelessly through bluetooth pairing, this includes the 2 surround speakers. This is especially helpful as I placed all 3 to the rear of the room behind me for that nice surround effect. There is no perceived delay that I can notice, no syncing issues in this room at least. The subwoofer is incredibly loud and shockingly deep for its size. It's a pretty heavy little box though, seems to be made very well. The remote control also very easy to use as is pairing via bluetooth to your phone or Amazon tablet. The Vizio Smartcast app however is terrible. Tried many times to connect it and failed. Even successfully paired it once but it lost connection. Not sure why... >__< Overall I am VERY happy with this purchase and am no longer a snob against soundbars. What a delight for this price! :-)

Decent quality, but intentionally blocks all surrounding Wifi
By Michael Alexander on Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2019
I was incredibly surprised by the quality of this product, regardless of whether it was renewed or not. The fact that it was renewed was indistinguishable. I've always been hesitant with Vizio products since they're almost always cheap in both cost and quality. This worked great for our bedroom TV where there room is very long and the TV speakers are atrocious. It also integrated with the Google Home mini and Lenovo Smart Clock perfectly to join a speaker group and allow me to seamlessly cast Spotify to the entire group by voice. The subwoofer is solid and produces reasonable bass. The rear speakers are compact but surprisingly good quality, and have long enough wires to easily reach the sub that they plug into. Not having to run wires from the sound bar to the subwoofer is great, and there isn't an noticeable issues with lag reaching the rears vs the fronts. The soundbar itself can get loud, or be kept quite and seems to maintain the audio quality quite well. The setup is a little annoying, there's an LCD display on the remote that tells you what setting you're affecting abs it takes a little playing around to figure out how to navigate the options. The Google Home integration is also really difficult to get setup, mostly because it's easy to accidentally end up in a mismatch state between the Smartphone app you have to use and the device itself. I had to find a Reddit thread talking about how to reset the device to factory defaults, and another one about how to integrate it because the manual contains no instructions and the in-app instructions are incorrect in at least one case. FYI, the steps are: 1. Install the app on your phone 2. Factory reset the soundbar (to guarantee a clean starting point) 3. On your phone, connect to the WiFi signal the soundbar is providing 4. Open the app and look for devices 5. Connect to the device and wait 6. Let it walk you thru the steps 7. Reach the screen telling you it's successfully setup Be very patient when you go thru the screens, some can take almost 30 seconds to respond to your click. If you hit the back button, the Back button, switch away from the app, or click the Next button twice, it will screw it up and you'll have to restart with a factory reset. If it says it can't find the device and asks you to try Bluetooth, restart the process with a factory reset. Immediately after you complete the Integration process, you should use the app to have it look for a firmware update. After that, you never need to use the app again, you just need to make sure Eco mode is off so the speaker can always respond as part of a speaker group. NOTE this product does not respond to voice commands like a Google Home, it can just be used by another Google product that accepts voice input (your phone, a Google Home, etc) as a speaker or part of a speaker group when explicitly requested. UPDATE: It turns out the Vizio Smartcast products always broadcast a WiFi signal that exactly matches the WiFi network you put them on. This cannot be disabled, and despite Vizio's claims it does not turn off (all customer reports agree on this). As a result, you get a huge amount of WiFi interference from this product. When we moved our bedroom furniture around, the interference was enough to make our Roku unable to get internet access. Unplugging the Vizio, and that same wifi signal goes to almost 100% signal strength. I would return it, but I didn't discover the problem until I was outside the return window.
