Great fitness watch, has the features I desired at a reasonable price.

I've been using it for over a month now and I love it. I'm an older person who really just wanted to track my steps and my sleep. But I didn't want something that had to be charged very often or cost a lot of money like an Apple watch or the Fitbit bands. This fits the bill. I can track my steps on the watch, or in the app. I can even set the watch up so that it lets me know when I have hit my goal...nice!. I can also set a timer to get me moving if I sit too long. These need to be set up in the app. I can set an alarm TIME in the app, and then switch it on or off directly on the watch. There are many other things this watch can do, but those are the main ones I use. I just checked the app, The watch says 23 days since last charge and I'm on 42% battery life. Love that! Keep in mind that supposedly the GPS function uses a lot of battery life. Most people shut it off when not using it. You can find out more about that function and lots of others by checking out the many, many YouTube videos about this watch. It is very popular, and that's a good thing. If you have a question or a problem, there's probably others that had the same problem, that means there's probably a video or at the very least a web page somewhere that can help you! The Mi Fit app will keep stats for the activities and keep history so you can see how consistent you are in your activities. It has a small section for the sleep tracking, however I would advise anyone who really wants to track their sleep to get the free Android app "Notify & Fitness for Amazfit". You can find it in the Google Play store by the GREEN icon. It interprets the sleep functions even better, and I KNOW the sleep times are more accurate than the Mi Fit app. The "Notify" app will also track the other fitness functions similar to Me Fit, but they each have their pros and cons. I choose to use them both, but that would be a personal decision. Supposedly you can use "Notify" without the Mi Fit app even being installed on the phone, however the Mi Fit app has the built-in way to change the watch face, so I really don't want to uninstall it. Which leads me to one of my favorite things about this watch: the user created faces. There are faces for every age and need and in quite a few languages! I wanted something with good utility, but there are fun ones with Simpsons and comic characters, etc. Those are too busy or make it hard to find the info I need. The stock faces are all pretty usable, but the main reason that I wanted to change from the stock ones is that I wanted 12 hour time display. FYI, most of the faces that come with the Mi Fit app show 24 hour time instead of 12 hour AM/PM time. Some people, like military may prefer the 24 hour display...but I'm so glad that they gave the ability to change. To get 12 hour time, I had to find a way to install third party faces. (Mini tutorial is below) There are several apps on the Play Store that make changing the watch face easy, the one I prefer is "My Watchface [Free] for Amazfit Bip" It has quite a few faces, and allows you to switch out the ones that are in the Mi Fit app so that you can use your replacements directly from the Mi Fit app. It includes a screen that shows you which of the original faces you have switched out so you can easily go back and forth. Some people save the faces on their computer and do it the hard way. This way is much easier! Trust me! I haven't even set up the phone notification functions, because my phone is always in my pocket anyway. I can see where those might be useful for some people but not me. I'm in Florida so this time of year it's not good to get out and walk and for very long. I plan on setting up the GPS functions this fall when the temperature drops a bit. But really I can see from other reviews that it should work fine. All around good watch. I'm very happy with my purchase. My Pics in order: Showing the visibility of the watch face: Watch face-darkest ambient light (The camera lightened the pic a bit. It was really too dark to read it.) Watch face-dark ambient light-somewhat readable Watch face-lit ONLY by overhead light-very readable (No backlight) Watch face-lit by overhead light with backlight on Watch face-lit in dark room with backlight on Screenshots of the two fitness apps: Mi Fit app home screen (tap on each section to drill down) Mi Fit Sleep app (only showing a portion of the info available) Notify & Fitness app home screen (tap on each section to drill down) Watchfaces: My Watchface [Free] for Amazfit Bip app, showing the replaced watch faces side by side with the original faces...original on left, replacement faces on right (app w black background) Watch faces (originals) from the Mi Fit app.(App w white background) These last two pics are provided to illustrate my mini tutorial on how to change from the stock watch face: Using "My Watchface [Free] for Amazfit Bip": After you have picked a replacement face in the watchface app, you decide which of the faces in the Mi Fit app you want to over-write. In this case, I am over-writing the Temple face. Once you have done this (using the watchface app), go to the Mi Fit app and click on the Temple face, and your replacement (in this example, the one showing a time of 5:40), will be the one that is transferred to your watch. And you can see that the one in the side by side pics shows the face in all my pics is the one beside the Temple pic...voila! This Watchface app will let you overwrite a few of the Mi Fit watch faces, and you can overwrite even more of them if you buy the app. I knew I was never going to use the Temple face so I had no concern about not having access to it. There probably is a way to get that original face back, but I really am not sure, and I really don't care because all of these are 24 hour faces that I would never use anyway! Hope this helps someone!

Don't Bother

I joke around with my friends when they ask, 'wow you got a smart watch,' by saying this is the dumbest of the 'smart watches and save your money for a real one.' This watch is not worth the money and is a disappointing experience. The Problems: 1) screen size, 2) weather function, 3) app, 4) sleep data, 5) heart monitor, 6) bluetooth, 7) notifications, 8) app dependent 9) Slow 1) Screen Size: is way smaller than you think it would be. It has extremely large bezels with a tiny screen in the middle. So it looks kind of silly. Also, quick referencing a text that came in while driving is not safe. Screen and print is so small you'll need to concentrate and squint to read the text. 2) Weather: function stopped working completely for me. When working, it only reads the high temp for the day (im guessing). I never quite figured out what it reads, but at 06:00 in the morning when its 57 out, weather function says 92. The high for they day is 97 (verified by iPhone weather app and cross checked with Google weather. And it would display 92 all day. This is supposedly based on location, and I'm not sure why the developers didn't make the watch pull weather data from one of the already working weather apps on the phone. Then, weather stopped working all together and says 'connect to MiFit app to update.' App says, 'everything is up to date.' 3) App: The app is just a piece of trash. Other reviews casually mention, 'it's a little buggy,' but in my experience, it's infuriating. One example, of the many I have, is when I change a simple setting and the updating symbol keeps on spinning, and spinning, and ...... you get it. It doesn't ever end. I have to shut down the app and relaunch, and then its a 50/50 chance if the setting change was updated. If it was not updated, I would need to go through the process again. Seems like there is a minimum wait time, because if I make a change and shutdown the app to relaunch, it never worked. So no gaming the system there. Also, app is not intuitive and hard to navigate initially. It's easy to remember where everything is once you go looking for it because the app is so small, but it seems the developers had no intention of giving the user good UX. 4) Sleep Data: is shotty at best. I used this while I had two other sleep monitors attached to me, the others said I had X amount of sleep and this watch always said something like 1/4 of that. Not even close. Out of a whole night of sleep, the other two were usually within 15 mins of each other. 5) Heart Monitor: very questionable. And yes, I am aware I have selected the setting; check once every 10 mins. 6) Bluetooth: I'm not exactly sure how bluetooth works, but all I know with this watch is when I'm more than 20 ft away from my phone (line of sight) bluetooth disconnects, means I'm just wearing a watch. This differs from other experiences where friends with a different watch (more expensive) can be in a different room and still have a connection. 7) Notifications: scroll menu is not a good UX. The text notifications keep rolling in but don't go away after you've dealt with the text on your phone. And you have to be on top of clearing the list because the clear notifications button is at the bottom of the list and you always start at the top, so if you let it go for even a day, you'll be scrolling, and scrolling, and .... you still get it, just to reach the bottom to clear everything. Keep in mind the watch is slow with every action. 8) App Dependant: This watch is completely dependant on the phone app. You can't create even a new alarm time without the app. The watch is only for viewing things, nothing on the watch is dynamic. 9) Slow: The watch is excruciatingly slow at almost every command. Even just scrolling through the menus, there is a delay with every swipe and tap. Not such a big deal at first, when you've used it enough, gets pretty ridiculous. Other than that, battery life is phenomenal for a smart watch. I have friends that charge their watches once every two or three days and this thing lasts around 30 days for me (probably because the above mentioned doesn't do its job. So if you only want a watch that looks like a smart watch, tells time (for now), and has a vibrate alarm, then I suppose you could buy it instead of an actual smart watch. Grandma doesn't know the difference.
