I spend a few weeks selecting an AVR to replace my old Denon, which only had 5.1 channels. This Pioneer VSX-LX303 was the most affordable AVR capable of a 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos configuration and passing 4K content to my new projector. The quality of the sound is as good as my old Denon. I would need much more expensive speakers to find out which one sounds better. The only thing I missed was my old Denon display, as it was less conspicuous. The Pioneer's is green with huge font. The configuration process was effortless. I used the included microphone to set speaker levels and delays based on distance from speakers to the primary listening position. The configuration process took only a couple of minutes. Much faster than my old Denon receiver. Changing from Stereo for listening to music to Dolby is very easy using both the control or the control panel. It shows that Pioneer designers put much thought into the user interface. Initially, I thought that the ability to play music on two additional zones was a plus. I was thinking about adding speakers to my living room and plug them unto the corresponding channels with banana plugs for when we have a party at home. However, it would need a change in the configuration. I am not sure if I will do that, as it will take some time to reconfigure it from multi-zone back to 5.1.4 Dolby Atmos. Also, the two subwoofer channels are not stereo. Both of them play the same signal. This does not matter if you will use it only to watch movies, but it is important when listening to music, especially if your speakers are small. Wifi connectivity and the ability to play music through Spotify as a nice bonus. Primarily since I already use google assistant and google home. Spotify detected it automatically and worked every time. My wife is an IOS user, and she uses airplay to play music without any issue.

Well it won’t connect via blue tooth. To anything. Yes I’ve been in the settings. Yes I did the firmware update. Yes I’ve been on with support. It will not pair and stick. See various devices, sometimes. But never stays connected for more than 30 seconds.
