LG SK9Y 5.1.2-Ch Soundbar w/ Subwoofer

I own several DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 systems. I bought this sound bar because it has twin up shoot speakers for overhead effects which is used by Atmos. After the Atmos is set up correctly you will love the sound output. As the instructions in the box are very short and poor you need to download the full instructions in PDF from LGThe instructions will tell you that the only way to get Atmos sound out of this product is via HDMI IN and Arc mode.If you use the fiber optic cable from your Blue ray player output into fiber optic input of the sound bar ,you will only get regular Dolby digital. The front LED light in front of the sound bar shows this as " Dolby AU" if you set up the sound bar per instruction using HDMI cable , the front LED will show "Dolby AT". if you do not see "Dolby AT" you are not getting Atmos. For everything to work right , you need to set up you blue ray audio output to Bit stream, the movie you are watching in blue ray player (or say streaming channels) has to be broadcasting in Atmos, there are a few blue ray movies that have Dolby Atmos , you can look them up on line . Almost all the new 4K movies have Dolby Atmos format and may also contain DTS or Dolby 5.1 as well. One important thing is that you will not get Dolby Atmos at intro, trailers or pop up movie at main menu, you must start the movie and then Atmos will start with the LED notification. The only complain I have is that the sound bar has only one input and the base has limited volume adjustment. For the price this is a great system.
