We replaced our older Defender brand 8-channel system with this. What a world of difference! Picture quality is fantastic, setup was easy, and the user interface is so much better than we were used to. This item was advertised as refurbished, but you would never tell! Everything was new and in perfect condition. Very happy with the purchase! We are using this system to protect a retail store, with cameras both inside, and outside overlooking the parking lot.

Very Loud! The unit was very loud from the initial startup. (Fan noise like a small drone constantly runs unlike any other computer or dvr I have ever had). Thought something was wrong with unit so Contacted amazon support and they were useless. Got cutoff from their online support more than 6 times and had to explain the problem over and over. All I wanted was for a replacement dvr to be sent so I could swap out unit and they could not provide that option. Their only option was to pack up dvr and cameras and send all back for refund. That was not practical as I had already spent hours installing all cameras and wires. In the end I contacted refurbamania direct and they were great. They sent a new dvr to swap out, That unit has the same noise so I’m guessing it’s either another bad unit or just the way this product is. I was hoping to install this unit in office which doubles as guest room but that’s not practical as noise would keep someone up all night. Other than that it seems like a good system but beware of the noise.
