Great product; but investigate the different models before you buy !
By Maine95 on Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2018
There are four different versions of the Ring Light/Cameras. They are: 1. Ring Spotlight Battery Cam ($160), 2. Ring Spotlight Wired Cam ($160), 3. Ring Spotlight Mount Cam ($249) and 4. Ring Floodlight Cam ($249). I currently have three (3) of the Floodlight Cameras installed in my home. Excellent performance on all three. Never had one single problem and their customer support is always there if assistance was needed. I needed a fourth camera to be installed over my front entryway and I ordered the Spotlight Mount Cam because I wanted a unit that was a little smaller. Plus I didn't want to have to deal with batteries (You know when they're going to fail - just when you need them) and I wanted to mount this to a junction box and have no exposed wires. Well that was MY mistake. The thing that I did not know is that the "Spotlight" cams do not have the same capabilities of the "Floodlight" cams. Here are just a few things that are different with the Spotlight Cam: 1. Reduced light output and coverage, 2. No ability to set it for "automatic dusk to dawn" lighting, 3. The lights should not be left on for more then 30 minutes and 4. Reduced night vision capability and resolution. Why pay the same price ($249 for both the Spotlight Mount and the Floodlight models) and get "less" capability ????? Ring's customer service was very willing to assist me in obtaining a replacement. The Spotlight cam was replaced with another Floodlight Cam. Slightly larger in size, but overall a much more capable light/camera system and is working flawlessly. THANK YOU RING FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

No plate for 3.5" round junction box
By Loach on Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2022
As the very satisfied owner of a Ring Doorbell Pro, I was hoping to expand my camera coverage to the rear of my home using two of the Spotlight Cam Mounts. I was planning to install them in place of existing wall-mounted outdoor lighting fixtures, for which this product is designed. However, when I removed the first existing fixture, I found I had a 3.5" round junction box with 2 screw holes, which is apparently quite common for outdoor fixtures. However, Ring only provides a mounting plate for 4" round junction boxes with 4 screw holes, along with a couple mounting plates for rectangular boxes. I still tried to install it, but couldn't come up with a way to get it to seal properly against the siding. If you have a 3.5" junction box and your builder cut a super tight hole in the siding for it, as a couple other reviews have noted, you might be able install this with wood screws directly into the siding. However, if your builder left you any "slop" in the cutout for the junction box, you would be left screwing into thin air and/or the edge of the junction box. Ring support was no help, except to confirm that no 3.5" plate is available, and instructed me to return the product, which I did.
