Worth the purchase!

Our church purchased this item on my recommendation. Now we weren't streaming prior to the quarantine so like many other organizations and churches we weren't ready for the lockdown. So we purchased this because it was cost effective and we were able to get up and running with minimal equipment. As you can see in the picture, we used a GoPro 5 Black which not only records in 1080, but the output through the adapter also puts out 1080. (Consider this because although many cameras record in 1080, the output is usually 720), but I digress. The Webcaster x2 will broadcast to Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, and some other popular stream options. We did YouTube because it works better for us over Facebook. Anyway, we were in a pinch and this helped out so much. I was able to obtain the Rode Wireless GO Compact Wireless Microphone System which gave us a decent audio quality and you can adjust the volume level. I had to buy the GoPro mic adapter with allows to power the camera and provide the input for the mic. Again, this is a simple set up, but after some testing, you can use this to stream using OBS and a better camera. If you're a small org or small church looking for something to get you going and you have someone who has some tech knowledge, I would recommend this. Obviously, for those YouTuber's, its perfect too if you're in a stationary setting. By the way device can be set up wirelessly, but why stream wirelessly when you can hard wire a Cat5e or Cat6 straight to the internet. Just be sure that you have a decent upload bandwidth with your ISP.

Avoid

When I purchased this item, I intended to use it for live streaming on YouTube. It worked fine for a while, but recently the protocols changed and now the stream won’t automatically reconnect if there’s an interruption with the stream. It would auto reconnect before, but now it won’t. You have to go through all these steps in order to get the stream going again. It’s a real pain. I’ve contacted Epiphan tech support and they’ve been no help. I do more trouble shooting than what they offer. Tech Support won’t even contact YouTube about the issue. They say there’s nothing they think they can do. Really? How do they know unless they tell them there’s a problem? Maybe they can reset the protocols back to the way they used to be? They refuse to even try. So, my advise would be not to purchase this item. It doesn’t function the way it should. So, save your money.
