Consider Dash Cams "Consumables"
By PC Tech on Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2023
Mine needs to be replaced now after five years, but it was in use for about 28k miles in the Northeast and mostly parked in the shade so it had very little exposure to extreme heat. So if you're an average mileage driver with about 15k a year, this would last under two years. The power button actually died at least a couple of years ago--not sure when because I didn't try to use it and the camera kept working since the camera was stuck in the "on" condition. I was okay so long as I didn't need to use the power button. And then recently I noticed some recordings were corrupted. I reformatted the memory card but it just kept getting worse, now the thing is just dead. What I found as I researched for another dash cam is they all, even those with good reviews, tend to fail more often than what would be expected of a camera. These dash cams are just consumable/disposables, regardless of price. I noticed it's the same with my automatic soap dispensers and some other smaller off brand electronic items, they tend to last only a few months to little over a year.
