A Bargain, But Lacks Balance
By emergemz24 on Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2011
Pros: Affordable, comfortable, good size (for a 20-something female, at least), great design and they feel sturdy, even as you play with the swiveling earcups. Stereo adapter included (I'm sure they always are nowadays, but I tend to lose those, so it's nice to get another one!). Cons: VERY strong bass, no inline volume or bass/treble adjustment (if you really desire that feature). Bottom Line: 3/5. If you are sensitive to sound and would be bothered by too much bass, then I would suggest you pass these up. I'll give these a chance for a while and see if I grow to like them more. If not, my sister seems to love them, so she can have them :) ---------------- I purchased these primarily for use with my new computer and because all my old headphones are broken or cheap. I love the over-ear style and wanted some nice, comfortable stereo headphones for once. I saw the great reviews and ratings for these and decided to take a chance. Satisfied? Not really. I received these today and immediately tested them with my Yamaha electric keyboard. They fit great - not too big or small (hell if I know what size my ears are!). But the first thing I noticed when I plunked out a few notes - the bass is VERY heavy. I tried out a few different instruments - no change. I thought maybe it was just the keyboard; maybe the bass is more prominent through headphones. But nope - plugged these into my laptop and the bass was just as strong there. Now, this might not bother many people, but I'm really sensitive and picky and HATE having bass that is so overpowering that it washes everything else out. But having it BUILT INTO the headphones is what ruins this product for me. I'm sure it's adjustable if you play around with sound settings enough on your PC (I couldn't find it earlier, but I know it's there somewhere); however, it's not fixable for the Yamaha or anything else that I might use these headphones for. That's a shame, as I was hoping to be able to play and write music again without disturbing anyone in the house. I know that people these days really favor bass enhancement and this is the first stereo headset I've bought, so perhaps I shouldn't be surprised, especially for the price. Don't get me wrong, it's a good set of phones and I'll keep it for the time being, but I hope someday I find a good, inexpensive stereo headset that has a better balance than this one.
