Super happy and very surprised at the quality

I was very nervous to buy these. I got sucked into the Beats hype when they first came out, and ended up getting a pair of Beats for Christmas a few years ago. I hated them - too heavy, too odd-sounding, and just overall disappointing. I ended up selling them to a friend shortly afterwards, and sticking with my ancient Sennheisers. Upon receiving the iPhone 7, I was fine with staying with the stock headphones that came with the phone with the lightning connector. Except that they're awful. Unlike the pair I still have from my iPhone 6 (that came with the phone), I've gone through 4 pairs of headphones for the 7. They're incredibly cheap and very fragile. I decided to go with Bluetooth headphones after much debate, and bought a few pairs before finally giving up and spending the money on these. I bought them used, which is normally the kiss of death when it comes to electronics, but it was what I could afford, so I took my chances. It came with a few months of AppleCare and factory sealed ear pieces, original case, etc., so I went with them. They arrived promptly and well packaged. I charged them and used them on my commute to school the next day, which is around an hour, give or take how nice the trains want to be that day. My last pair (Skullcandy) had a decent battery life, but the connectivity was AWFUL. Literally every time I turned my head or put my phone in my pocket, I was greeted with horrendous static and choppy music or podcasts. The pair before that (JLab) had the most laughable battery I've ever encountered with Bluetooth headphones. I'd get about 2 hours out of those before they simply died. Shockingly, these have been wonderful. I can clean around my whole apartment with my phone in the living room and I hear everything perfectly. I don't feel that these, unlike my wired Beats, have bass that is odd or too overpowering on audio that doesn't require or have excessive bass. The battery is great too, and they do last me my commute to and from school, as well as several hours walking around town or cleaning the apartment, which is great - I listen to a lot of music and podcasts while doing things around the city, and battery life is very important to me. The fit is a little bizarre - I'm really not crazy about the plastic piece that goes around the ear, but I've learned to accept it. For the battery life and connectivity, it's a tradeoff I'm willing to make. The earpiece that goes in the ear fits well, so while I do need to shift the headphones around every so often, they at least don't completely fall out of my ear. Again, for me, that's an acceptable issue. Perhaps in the future, they could make the outside plastic piece out of a more forgiving and flexible material - if I could bend it to actually fit around me ear, they'd be great. All in all, I really like them - something I've never said when I owned my original Beats. I hope they last a long time, or at least long enough to have for the duration that I have my iPhone 7.

Another wireless earbud disappointment
By Josh Q. on Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2017
I had high hopes for these after going to an Apple store and learning that these are the same chip set as the AirPods, but designed for exercise. I wanted them for running and Apple says the Airpods aren't sweat proof. These allegedly are. The sound quality is excellent, and they fit great--the over the ear hook is good for vigorous exercise. And yes, the battery lasts forever (12 hours, supposedly, though I recharged after about 6) and the fast recharge, which takes a scant 15 minutes, also throws a few hours of charge into them. They sounded perfect. If only they worked. They lasted about 12 days. First, I noticed this weird anomaly when I listed to books on Audible. If I got a Notification of any kind, the volume would drop—expected behavior I suppose. But after manually resetting the volume, the volume would normalize for 5-10 seconds, then slowly slide back to zero. Repeated attempts to reset the volume resulted in the same outcome. I reported it to Apple (which said the problem was likely Audible) and Audible, which said that maybe it was a software problem, they'd look into it. That was a few days ago. Today the remote stopped working. No way to turn the volume up or down, or invoke Siri. Apple, like Amazon, has excellent return policies. I'm trying to decide whether to send them back to Amazon and get a new pair—which will have the same 30-day return policy—or to Apple, which will repair them. Kind of leaning toward Amazon since my suspicion is that these have some fundamental unresolved issues. And I'll go through the whole thing again, only this time, Amazon might not take them back. The whole wireless headphones thing is very frustrating for people who like to run or go to the gym. I suspect that people who work out heavily—and sweat a lot--are the 10-20 percent that give wireless headphones 1-star reviews. I had a similar issue with a pair of Jaybirds--which a lot of people recommend for running. They would just conk out, despite carrying a full battery charge. Luckily, Amazon took them back and refunded me more than three months after I purchased them. The Powerbeats were the replacement I had settled on. UPDATE: Guys—Get this: It turns out there's a difference between SWEAT RESISTANT and SWEAT PROOF! I learned this today when I was on the phone with Apple support to replace my second pair of Powerbeats 3, which died today, a little over three months after Amazon replaced the first pair. Today, my PB3s are unable to take a charge. So I call Apple Support and give an earful (so to speak) to the Customer Service rep. I tell him that someone ought to check out all the 1-star reviews on Amazon. He says the problem is... I am almost choking with bitter, insane laughter here... the phones are not SWEAT PROOF, they are sweat RESISTANT. I understand what that means when we talk about watches that are water resistant (can handle a rain storm) but not water proof (don't shower with them.) But SWEAT? Seriously? I mean, I am not dropping these things in a bucket of sweat, so what the heck does the distinction even mean? The nice service rep couldn't really tell me. Apple will send me another pair of defective headphones however. I can get as many as I need until my original warranty runs out. So $200 for a year's worth of headphones... Now I feel twice as bad: I hate being ripped off for a defective product, and worse, apparently some of us sweat oceans of electronics-killing sweat.
