Optoma Technology HD27 1080P Home Cinema Projector

First ill start off by saying that im brand new to the home theater thing and spent several months learning about projectors and deciding what to purchase. I settled on the hd27 and so far could not be happier. After reading tons of reviews, good and bad, I was certainly worried about many of the negative things I had read. So far, every aspect of the things i was concerned might happen, have not. Setup was very quick and easy. Fan noise is so whisper quiet that the first time i turned it on, i completely forgot that it was something that id worried about. The sound quality is not great, but was exactly as i expected. If you turn up the volume past the halfway point, it does get garbled, but halfway is more than adequate for a home theater set up. It is plenty loud, and most people will likely hook up alternative speakers anyway. I read reviews elsewhere that stated that using the keystone function distorts the image quality...and it probably technically does, but it wasn't enough for my eyes to see a difference on the 140 inch screen. Also this projector is not listed as having lens shift, but it does have something called image shift which seems to be the exact same thing. Again, it is said that this distorts the image quality, but like before i couldnt notice a difference...if there is, it is miniscule. As far as rainbow artifacts go, i have yet to see any. Image quality is exactly as i expected and as advertised. Picture looks great. Its not gonna look as great as a high end led television set, so if you are expecting that, you may be let down. But the image is crisp and bright and exactly what i expected and hoped for out of a projector of this price range. If you are new to the home theater projector, like me and are looking in this price range...you wont be disappointed. It 100% met my expectations. More expensive models probably give you more bells and whistles, but I cant imagine the image quality being a whole lot better than this. If you're just looking to put a movie or television or sports on the big screen in your house, you really cant go wrong here.
