Very nice pair of Bluetooth headphones under $100
By steve nomes on Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2017
First off let me say that for less than $100 this is a really good pair of headphones. They are small, comfortable, long lasting, and easy to use. Dont expect $300 headphone sound quality, but they do a lot for what they offer. Sound Quality - This is the extra bass line of Sony headphones so naturally they are going cater more towards bass heavy genres. However, the sound is still pretty balanced for the average listener. There is no extra bass button like on the bigger brother xb950, but that was kind of overkill anyway. These do a good job of bringing out bass in the songs that have it and does not compromise the other tones as much. Battery Life - Amazing. Sony claims to get 30 hours with this set and from my experience that is pretty accurate at low to moderate volume. i have only had to charge them a few times with periodic use. The power light will flash red periodically when juice is low, but more conveniently you can tap the power button for pleasant voice prompt about battery status. "Battery Level Medium" etc. its simple but effective. Technology - All the controls are on the right ear cup. It has power button with light blue power light (does flash periodically but is small and unobtrusive), volume rocker with raised edge on the up side for easy touch feel, track change and pause slider, micro-USB charge port. NFC on left ear cup. It has most of the functionality you would expect from a bluetooth headphone. Comfort - These are on ear type headphones. Head band is metal but has a nice padding under it so it wont put too much pressure on the top of your head. When i first wore these headphones, they were not that comfortable. The ear pads seemed to press against my ears too much after longer periods of listening. however after a while this broke in a bit and now they feel great. The pads definitely look like they are thinner and might not be comfortable but when you feel them they are very soft and the light weight helps with comfort as well. Build Quality - Headband is metal and seems sturdy will not snap easily without deliberate bending. Ear cups do not fold but swivel 90 degrees to roll flat. The hinges seem durable and i dont think this should be much of a problem provided you take care of them. Bluetooth The range is decent and id call it about average. Pairing was quick and i never had any issues locating the unit with any of my devices. Once paired the bluetooth connects almost immediately upon subsequent uses. Accessories - Not much to say here. You get a micro USB cable and that is about it. Would be nice to see a hard case or something to carry it with. The unit does not have any wired 3.5mm jack as these are bluetooth only.Personally it doesnt bother me because i have other headphones i use if i want wired experience or know i might be in a situation where bluetooth is not available. with 30 hours of life you should get through most situations before having to charge. Overall - These are really solid headphones. For less than $100 and having a smaller form factor (not huge heavy cans like some other styles), these are quality BT only headphones. Once they form to your head ears, they are comfortable and cups swivel flat for easy storage in a bag. Id recommend a case though if you plan to travel with these a lot in a backpack. Sound is bass heavy but not unrealistic or gimmicky. If you are debating between the larger and heavier xb950, i think these are a little more practical. They are smaller, lighter, look much less bulky on the head, and while they are on ear as opposed to around ear like the 950s, these are still pretty comfortable. All in all its tough to beat this headphone for the price and performance.

Very Average Headphones For Price.
By cano on Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2018
I was looking for a pair of new headphones, specifically bluetooth ones, and decided to go with Sony as they're products are always solid at the very least. Well that's what these headphones are exactly, just solid. For the price what your getting here isn't all too impressive and you could get a far better experience with another pair of headphones. Like audio technica's lineup for example, or even Sony's older MDR lineup from the 90's. Comfort: This category is really important to me, probably number one, because I wear glass's all the time. Cheap headphone pads tend to apply pressure on your ear lobes and temples without giving way to the silhouette of it. As a result these cause a constant pressure and fatigue really quickly. After trying out the Bose Quiet Comfort series these don't stand a chance to those, and now I demand that all my headphones have memory foam pads of some kind. This may be a personal situation, but even without glass's on they were still uncomfortable, and caused ears to heat up after a short amount of time. So one star docked off. Function: So then the primary reason I bought these headphones to begin with bluetooth tech inside. It's good. From a purely reliable connection to the device your listening to it's a very solid connection. You can indeed go into another room 25ft away from the device, with a wall in between, and the headphones will still transfer a clean signal. Mind you some clarity and depth to the audio source file is lost in comparison to using a hard wired connection, yet this to me is worth it for the ability to move around cord-free. If your an audiophile bluetooth is NOT for you, you will notice some compression artifacting, and lower bitrate in order to get a constant reliable connection. But if you don't mind that then all the power to you. The only caveat is you can't connect to more than one device at anytime, and this applies from the lowest end, all the way up to the $350 wh1000x2. Why this issue exists is beyond me. I would've expected Sony to allow you to connect to multiple device's at once, but that isn't the case. If you wanna reconnect to other devices on the fly, you'll have to reset the device, and put it in pairing mode once again, by holding the power button for 7 seconds. All in all pretty average bluetooth connectivity options. Not taking off a star, or giving one. Durability: The build quality on these is on the cheaper side. Even older generation headphones by Sony used better materials than this. It's just cheap plastic all around, cheap, cheap, cheap. Feels like I could break these with my own two hands. The only thing that was aluminum was the headband, a very thin piece of aluminum. I would definitely put these as headphones you'll end up throwing away in a year or two. Just doesn't have the resistance to survive longer than that. The MDR-V6, or 7506 had much better usage of materials than these, and those were at a similar price point as well. I'm docking off a star for that one. Sound: We're finally getting to the category that's probably important for most people and that's sound. Why is sound so important? Well if your gonna be wearing something on your head for hours on end what's coming out better be something you like. And when it comes to that these are as generic as it comes. They're slightly better than skullcandy earbuds if that's any consolation. Mid's, high's, bass. All lacking accuracy, depth, and oomph. Bass is also really lacking, it's pretty much all mid-high's even in the basiest of songs. You might be able to eq them? Although I didn't bother to do so. So at the very least stock out of the box it's average for the price point. Conclusion: These headphones are like fast food. It's tasty, bubbly, in your face. But for any serious listening or long-term usage they fall apart. I would only buy these headphones for usage on the go if you wanna listen to something for a short while before getting back to work. If your in your house studying or working you can do with something much better. These are throwaway headphones that can be lost or stolen and easily replaceable. If that's what your looking for these will get the job done, if you want anything more look elsewhere.
