For Prime Members who like TV, this is a 100% NO BRAINER
By Middle Aged Macgyver Dad on Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2016
I bought this during PRIMEDAY: I absolutely LOVE amazon prime video, and this firestick is an amazing way to get even more value out of your prime membership. There is a TON of prime content available and you can access your other content through it as well. I dont view it as a cord cutting device, but as an amazing compliment to your entertainment system. CONFIGURATION: I have a samsung HD LED TV with 3 HDMI inputs - the TV is connected to a samsung soundbar, cable, a game console, and a hard drive and now AMAZON firestick. First, the remote is small with very few buttons and I find this to be perfect. Installation was a breeze. Plug into HDMI port and it automatically begins setup. Once this is done, which requires wifi connection logging into your amazon account. Once done your are ready to enjoy tons of content. Parental controls are a breeze - just make a 5 "click" pin using the circular ring part of the remote (this is really just a 4 directional button North East South West with a "select" button in the middle). or skip this step. The first really cool feature for me was the home button. The home button will take you to the home screen of amazon fire tv from almost any situation. If my TV is off - a push of the home button with turn it on and take me to the homescreen (no need to switch inputs with the TV remote) If i am using my TV for cable or gaming, a puch of the home button will take me to the homescreen This means that I only need my amazon fire tv remote to operate amazon fire tv. Fast forward and rewind buttons are also great - push once and you skip forward/backward 10 seconds - push 3 times quickly and you get 30 seconds, 5-50 seconds. Why is this a big deal? when binge watching you know exactly how much of the beginning of a show is a recap of the previous episode (example, MR ROBOT - exactly 60 seconds of recap, so press the FF button 6 times and you are instantly one minute into the show). MY ONLY gripe is that I cant control volume from the remote - this would make it a true autonomous remote experience.

As of the middle of December 2016; only one device, Echo, Fire Stick, or Fire TV can play Prime Music at a time!
By J. wool on Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2016
I would no longer purchase any Amazon Echo product or Amazon Prime Music from Amazon! Amazon has changed the contract regarding the Echo and/or Prime Music! My wife, daughters and I used to be able to stream our own stations of Amazon Prime Music simultaneously on our individual Echo devices or on our cell phones while getting ready in the mornings, while working out, running or at any other time of day. As of last week (12-10-2016) Amazon changed the game! You can now only play amazon music on one device at a time, (if I'm playing Prime Music in the morning and my wife or daughter wants to play their Amazon Prime Music at the same time the update prevents the other two from listening to their own prime music, only one device will play at a time! This includes Fire TV, Amazon Dot or cell phone with the Prime Music App, making our multiple Amazon dot, fire TV's or Prime Music on our cell phone in general obsolete and suitable for only one person! Now that I've complained I've been told that I can now spend an additional $14.95 per month for Amazon Unlimited Music, a new program, ($179.00 per year) to get the same service I previously had with no additional cost with Amazon Prime, If your intent is to have a family friendly source of music; stay away from Amazon Prime Music unless you're ok spending an additional $179 per year. In my case I had 5 Amazon dots in my household, one for each member of the family to stream their own prime station. As it stands now, only one of our Amazon Echo's will stream prime music and the other 4 sit around silently waiting for someone to ask Alexa to tell the time , a joke or the weather... a real waste of anyone's money. Amazon changed the rules once and they will do it again; you cannot trust this company!
