wow this thing works. I bought it two days ago since it was part of the deal of the day for $64/each. I bought two and they arrived this morning. Love that they came fully charged so I can try them out straight away. I was so excited I didn't even bother reading the manual. Set up was really easy. A word about me, I'm moderately tech savvy and it isn't my first bluetooth speaker. I hit the power button that looks like a minus sign. Turned on my phone's bluetooth to scan. Hit the bluetooth button below the power button. Voila. To sync my two speakers, I hit the hourglass looking button on the both of them. Took maybe 10 seconds to pair. i can not tell any lag time. I honestly thought only one speaker was playing when i had them up to my ears at the same time so I had to hold them up individually to check. Default volume was pretty loud. I've drained it about 20% playing at default volume after 2 hours. Way louder than need be when I tried showering with the exhaust fan on. I bought a generic bluetooth speaker (Dylan 3d Tumbler) for $35 a few months ago and the quality is definitely lower. Volumn was decent and it wasn't terribly hard to set up but it's got a god awful voice talking to you every time you turn it on or power is low. It keeps nagging power is low. Not helpful when you're turning it on at night and trying not to wake up anyone with a super loud voice saying "bluetooth speaker on" or waking up because it's saying "battery is low" repeatedly. Pairing is nice. I had also gotten the google music cast for $25/each around Christmas which was trickier to set up and keeps losing connection. So you can pair multiple chrome music cast together and you can plug that into any speakers (high end, low end, whatever) which is nice if it works consistantly. The app on my tablet would say i'm streaming to my chrome cast but no music would play. Or it could be my cheap $100 throwaway tablet I had bought for an overseas trip. At $64, I should have saved all the money I spent on the other stuff. Even at it's current price of $79, it's worth it for the quality, ease of use, and if you need speakers that pair without splurging on sonos. update 12/11/17 still working fine. Only had 2 times where it dropped the connection with my samsung galaxy 4 but that's way better than my honda's bluetooth which drops it all the freaking time. Fixed the issue by restarting my phone.

Surprisingly Disappointed. I say that because I already own a first release JBL flip, the one that needs house current to charge. I was wanting one that would work with a usb charger and saw that I could pair multiple devices with this one so I thought what the heck, jump from Flip2 to Flip3. Mistake. Sound quality in comparison to my Flip1 was sad. It sounded muddy instead of clear, like it was playing inside a box. While nothing in this size is going to be accused of being bookshelf reference speaker, mine original Flip is very good compared to others. This one, not even close. Then there are the ends. Whats with that JBL? I took the speaker out of the box and on both ends there are like best described as buttons with JBL written on them. Of course I had to touch them and as soon as I did I'm glad I didn't press them hard. They are the speaker cones! In the poor instruction, written not at the top but in the document were the words “Do Not Touch the Ends”. That should have been a message right on top before you even get it out of the box. I just see that as a potential point of failure, way to easy to get damaged considering these are portable speakers and can get knocked around. Poor instructions, even on line they are bad, I knew how to pair devices but if I wasn't versed in it, it would have been an issue. Last and to JBL if they are looking. For the lack of a Windows driver you are missing a HUGE potential market. Microsoft bought Skype, even kept the name. Skype for business will be a player in the commercial market, its making inroads in the move to VOIP. I travel for business and take my Flip with me, I use it in rental cars for hands free phone calls, I have set it up for impromptu conference calls at sites using my cell phone. Take a minute and look at the cost of Skype certified conference call devices and think about the market you could corner if you just had a driver. This won't replace a full-up conferencing phone system but I have used it in a room with 20 people at a conference table and everyone could hear and everyone could speak and be heard. Right now Windows/Skype doesn't recognize the device, a simple Windows driver would put it into commercial play. Returned the Flip3, getting a Flip2 (want that usb charging for mobility).
