Works really well -- holds even big phones in place
By Kdb on Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2017
I'm kind of amazed at how well this works. I have an iPhone 7 plus and it has yet to fall off this holder. I originally got one that clipped to my vent, but it constantly pulled it down and even though it said it worked for an iPhone 6 plus, which is actually heavier, my phone would fall off every time I hit a corner a bit too fast. Or sometimes when I hit a bump. But not this puppy -- the phone stays put and I can adjust the angle so it's easy to now use the map feature without holding the phone. And it makes it easy to have my phone always charging because now it's in a spot where the cord doesn't get bunched up. I ended up putting the magnet on the back of my phone case because I already had one on my phone from the previous holder. I don't know if this works so well because I have two magnets on, but it certainly can't hurt. The magnets are thin enough that they don't interfere with how my phone case fits, so you can easily use them over or under your case. My current case is cracked so I'll be replacing it soon and will go back to having only one magnet. I'll update my review if that ends up making a difference. This was easy to install but I do recommend cleaning off the surface where you want to stick it with some alcohol so that it has a clean spot to adhere to. I've had this on for months and it hasn't budged a bit. I do have to occasionally tighten the ring to keep it at the right angle, but that's no big deal. I just love that this is small and I could put it anywhere I wanted. My mother loved it so much that I ended up ordering one for her as well. I absolutely recommend this over the vent clip and any other holder that sticks to your windshield or somewhere else really noticeable. This is small and inconspicuous. You hardly notice it when I don't have the phone on it.

Needs to be attached to a flat surface. Otherwise Great!

I really like this device. If it weren't for the one problem I encountered I would've rated it 5 stars. Pros: Cheap, reliable, handy, and versatile. The ability to place it wherever it fits best is a huge plus. Cons: Really only have one. It uses an adhesive surface attached to the base plate, this is usually great since it allows you to attach it anywhere that there is space. However, the base plate itself doesn't bend well. In my car, a grand marquis, the only place to put it is a curved section of faux wood paneling that stretches across the dashboard. When I tried to attach it to the surface it didn't bend properly, and now, a few weeks later, the base is peeling off the surface. Every time I want to use it I either have to push down the base and hope it reattaches well enough, or deal with my phone bouncing and feeling as though the whole holder will fall off my dashboard. In short, I would just caution anyone attaching this device to their dash to choose a section that doesn't have a curve. If I could, I would've spent the extra to get one that attaches to my windshield rather than my dashboard. Learn from my mistake and make sure to attach it to a flat surface on your dash.

The WizGear Universal Stick On Dashboard Magnetic Car Mount Holder is a great product. Very happy with my purchase. I got it yesterday and installed it in my car this morning. So far so good. I'll edit my review if I come across any issues. PROS: SMALL DESIGN - Doesn't get in the way or stand out as a bulky add-on to the dash. STRONG MAGNET - I was jerking the mount before I put it on my dashboard, trying to get my phone to fall off, but it stuck on! EASY TO USE - The magnetic force holds the phone in place, but isn't a hindrance to quickly grabbing your phone and going. SOMEWHAT FLEXIBLE BASE - The base of the mount has two slits, one on each end of the mount, which I assume was to help the mount stick to curved surfaces. This was also a source of a slight con for me (see below). GREAT ROTATION - The magnetic part that holds the phone has a full 360 swivel ability. It helped make figuring out where to place it easier because I didn't have to just have my phone in one locked position. CONS: NOT AS FLEXIBLE A BASE AS I NEEDED - I blame this more on the design of my car, but the base wasn't able to fully stick to the curve of where I wanted it placed. It was an easy fix, though, I just turned the base side to side instead of up and down and it worked perfectly. Just be willing to think outside the box with placement and it shouldn't be an issue. I'm going to try and add pictures at a later time.
Excellent product when used correctly.

This is the 3rd mount I have tried in my Ford Explorer Sport Trac. The vent mount works in my wife's Enclave with flat vents so that Wizgear model stays in that vehicle. The suction cup mount worked but obstructed my view plus my car doesn't have a level surface on the dash anywhere. That's where this model comes in. The 3m mounting tape is strong so you better make sure where you mount it, you want it. I found that this model has a nice surface for mounting. Not too wide to be an eyesore but not to narrow to prevent a firm grip. I made sure the surface was clean (doesn't need to be as clean as the other mount) and held the phone on the bracket until I was happy with its location. I have it on the inside of a TPU case but another is on its way to mount the disc on the outside of a case. My truck is a bit rough (hey it's ten years old) but this magnet held. In the vertical position no issues. In horizontal it wanted to sag a bit to the side that my car charger was plugged in to. Not a big deal. I also tried this with a thicker case (puregear) but it did not hold as firm in my car. The problem is that with cases with a high gloss finish, unless the magnet is on the outside, the surface becomes too slippery. Again, the TPU case solves this issue and at home or work, when I want to use wireless charging, I just pop off the TPU case. This replaces an older bracketron cup holder gooseneck generic stand which works great, but I wanted my cup holder back. Pictures of it mounted in my vehicle to follow. EDIT: MOUNT STILL GOING STRONG ALMOST A YEAR LATER.

This is probably the best phone holder that I have used. There are two options and I have yet to use the one that clips to the flaps on the vents but my friend has one and that is why I decided to try this out. This is probably the best bang for your buck device. If you are wondering I have never had issues with the magnets in regards to the signal or GPS. Link: WizGear Universal Stick On Dashboard Magnetic Car Mount Holder for Cell Phones and Mini Tablets with Fast Swift-snap Technology It is very simple to use and the tape that come with the device is very strong. It is double sided tape and the device came with several double sided tapes, a few magnets to put in between your phone and phone case as well as a cleaning wipe which you will want to use before installing this device. I use the Samsung Galaxy S6 if that gives any reference to the size. It seems that it will not fall off, but in case you have a bgger phone, there is multiple magnets. Pros: - It is simple to install and all the mounting hardware is very intuative. - The base is slightly adjustable and very strong once secure (on the threads) - Holds phone where I intend to leave the phone. - Very easy to move the phone in landscape or vertical view. - The phone attaches with no issues with the magnet installed. Cons: - The tape that comes with the device is too strong, I wanted to put a command strip so I can move this from car to car, but I felt I nearly ripped my dash off and was unsuccessful so make sure that you get it right the first time which is the reason I give it a 4 star rating.

I've been looking for phone holder for my vehicle that's long lasting and works all the time. I've tried glass mounts with the suction cup but here in Texas when the heat is 100+ degrees outside, the window mount falls off. I also have very little real estate to stick the large round base to my car many areas in my car are not flat for something like that. I don't like air vent mounts period. So I found WizGear just looking around Amazon and for the price point, I decided to buy it. I like the magnetic mounts best. One of the window mounts had a magnetic mount and worked great, but as noted at the beginning of my review, in the summer time, it kept falling because off the windshield. When I received the WizGear Stick On Dashboard Mount, I noticed the stick on piece was small enough to fit in one of the areas of my vehicle and the edges bent to form to the curved area which was perfect. Install was a breeze and let it sit over night before using my phone. I have a metal plate already from my previous magnetic mount on my iPhone 7 case and just like that it works perfectly. It won't move and fall off. I can easily reach the home button on my phone and it won't move or come off the base. We took a trip this past weekend and it worked fine on the mount with a charging cord attached to my phone the entire trip and stayed in place with out moving. The adhesive based has also worked great without peeling due to the curved area. So definitely 5 stars and worth it!!
This is IT! This system TOWERS above ALL the other clamp-style mounts! BRILLIANT!

This is IT! Do not consider any other means of mounting your cellphone in your car! After spending huge money buying probably 15 different kinds of cellphone holders and mounts, I came upon this genius technology. The backing plate that secures the mount to the dash is easily made smaller, or cut to conform to the space available on your dash. I am buying two of them for a symmetrical look (one for my cell, and one for my GPS or Digital Clock). This belongs in the Smithsonian Institute. This makes Albert Einstein look like an average intelligence person, and makes Thomas Edison blush with jealousy that he did not invent this instead of useless electricity. (Exaggerating to make a point.) There is one sad thing. If you use wireless charging with your Samsung phone, the metal plate for this system gets SIZZLING, BURNING, FRYING HOT!!! You have to abandon wireless charging if you use this magnet/plate mount..but you know what? Its WORTH it for the ease and delight of using this system. If you do not want to or have space on your dash, they make a suction window mount version also. I use gorilla glue to secure the mounting plate on my phone CASE (never use gorilla glue on your phone if you do not use a case) if I feel the case is slippery or wont hold. I used some sandpaper also on the case (I have a battery case) and on the metal plate, then gorilla glue, then let it set 12 hours. There are other brands that are similar to this that use a chrome ball and a washer. I do not like those because the washer is magnetic and effects the cellphone (like if you have an s pen) and also the washer is thick protruding from your case. The plates on the WizGear are THIN.

Works great once you get rid of the glue strip it ships with

First off, when you get this just get rid of the glue strip that it ships with. Replace it with the 3M strip that came separately in the box. I have an iPhone with a Lifeproof case - it weighs about 5 1/2 ounces and the original glue just couldn't support the weight. I mounted it to my dash vertically and left it overnight to cure. The weight of the phone just pulled the mount right off the dash and it left a thin layer of glue on my dash. It was really difficult to remove the glue from the dash (had to resort to Goof Off adhesive remover) but it was quite easy to peel the remaining strip off the mount. After I finally got all the glue off, I reattached it with the 3M strip and now it holds like a champ. I will say that I contacted the seller about this and he told me that if the 3M glue didn't hold he would ship me even stronger stuff. Happily I didn't need to do that. Recommend. I previously had a magnetic vent mount but living in Alaska my heater is always on and my phone got hot. I wanted to mount the phone away from the heater vents and this was my answer. The magnet is really strong and I have no problem swiveling the phone around while it is held to the mount. I already had a backing plate on my case so didn't use the ones that came with the product but I imagine they all all similar. My plate is on the outside of my case because the Lifeproof case has no wiggle room to put anything inside it. So in the end it does exactly what I wanted it to do. Update: July 3, 2018 - This has been on for over a year now. We have had some very hot weather recently (hot for Alaska - it's been in the 80's) and the mount started to come away from the glue strip. I added a few drops of super glue to the strip and let it sit overnight and it's as good as new. This has been yanked on hard over the past year and I'm actually surprised the glue strip lasted this long. Well worth the money.
Nice concept, still not quite there (was Nice concept, poor execution)

I really have tried very hard to like this product. Initially when purchased for my wife we loved the concept and liked it enough to order a second one for my car. It was when I started using it that I began to notice the issues. First the range of movement is not that great on it. It has very limited tilt in one direction while the other is pretty good. Has to do with the design and placement of the ball that it moves on. Not an insurmountable problem as that is mostly a placement issue. Place it how and where you want so that you do not need a lot of movement in that direction. Another issue is the mounting tape it comes with is not very good. On a completely smooth surface it does fine. But if you have even a small texture to the surface then the adhesive pads sent with the mount will not last. This is even sticking it on and leaving it for more than 24 hours to set. I ended up having to buy and use a stronger mounting tape and after that I had no issues with it letting go. Finally I noticed that the mount was not very sturdily built. There is noticeable movement while I drive. This has to do with the flex of the plastic. In any vehicle that has a less smooth ride this becomes even more noticeable. This can get pretty annoying. The final straw in the durability department was with my wife’s mount. I was driving her car and my phone was on it (Galaxy s7 with an Otterbox symmetry case so not too heavy or anything) and the mount actually broke. The ball at the end just broke off. This was less than a month after we had gotten it. I was just driving along and the phone fell. At that point I just gave up on the mount. It is a great idea, but the execution is not well done in this instance. It may be that that this particular one had a defect in the molding process, but I was not interested enough to follow up and get a replacement with the other issues I was having with it anyway. There are many other options to choose from that are the same concept and I would recommend looking at them. I ended up ordering a different mount to replace my wife’s and we are much happier with it. It is still a stick on type, but it is one piece and much more sturdily built. It has been going strong for a few months now with no sign of an issue. Price was only a little more. Within a few dollars. Edited: I am leaving the previous review up so you know what was previous stated. I have updated from 2 stars to 4. First off let me say that I am giving WizGear (Upper Class Sales) an A++ 5 Stars fir their customer service. They took the initiative to reach out to me after 5 months trying to make it right. They have an updated version of this product and wanted me to give it a try. I agreed and said I would update my review based on my new experiences. This alone is a great thing for the company. But This is a review of the product and not the company so lets look at the product itself after the updates. i have used it now for over a month as I wanted to give it a good work out and wanted to wait for some hotter days to see how the adhesive held up. OK. So I had 3 big issues listed in my initial review. 1. Range of movement. This is unchanged. That is a factor of the design and not build quality. So a fix would require a redesign (which they have in a different product if you are interested). Again this is just something you really need to be aware of before purchasing so you can make the decision if this limitation is a make it or break it issue. It basically only articulates in one direction. 2. Mounting tape. This was big issue and pretty common complaint across many different mounts. Most I have seen use the 3M mounting tape. It really is not a good fit for this application I think. If your surface is completely smooth you will have fewer issues with this than those who have a slight texture (as I do). If you do have a texture look for a mount that may have a larger base. More surface area means more adhesive making contact and the more it will hold. That being said there is a new mounting tape included with the mount. I am not sure if it is a different product line from 3M, another manufacturer, or what but it appears to be vastly superior to what was previously included. I have had zero issues from the new adhesive. 3. The build quality itself. I will say that this version is also much improved. It is still plastic but it does seem quite a but sturdier. i don;t have the vibration issues I had on the previous version. And it has been used for over a month now and not broken. that right there is an improvement on the previous one. If there was a way to give this 4.5 stars I would but the articulation issue keeps me from bumping to 5 stars unfortunately.
Gret value for a car mount

I ordered this mount and the Akcord magnetic mount on the same day, and can compare them side by side. First, let me provide some background. I have a Motorola X Pure Edition, which is a fairly large/heavy phone with a curved back. I had OEM car docks for all my prior Motorola phones, and I have grown dependent on having a quick, one-handed car mount. However, Motorola does not make an OEM mount for this phone at the moment. I started out with the iOttie Easy One Touch 2. It worked okay, but it never really felt comfortable to use. The phone sat too low and the mount arms would press the volume down button. I modified the mount but was not happy with the results. Next I moved on to the Urban Gear Mobile Mount. It uses spring tension to hold the phone. It worked well for my smaller phone, but it was always a minor struggle to get the massive Moto X PE into the mount. It was time to try something else. I had looked at magnet mounts, but was afraid of the effects of magnetism on the phone and did not like the idea of sticking a metal plate onto the back of the phone. Eventually I figured I would give it a try, so I ordered the Akcord model and the WizGear Model together. They were both inexpensive compared to the prior mounts I had used. Overall, I really like them both, and wish I had tried a magnetic mount before spending the money on the iOttie or Urban Gear mounts. With the magnet mounts, it is very easy to place the phone on the holder, remove the phone, and plug/unplug it with one hand. It requires no thought or dexterity. The phone is held very securely. Despite its size and weight, the phone does not slide, vibrate, or have any other unwanted movement when driving. It would jiggle like a bowl of Jello in the iOttie holder. I should also mention that all these particular mounts utilize a 17mm ball attachment. The 17mm ball was used widely by Garmin for their GPS units, and over time the 17mm ball has become somewhat of a standard with car mounts. I dislike suction cups, so both my cars already have 17mm ball attachments attached to the dashboard from my previous mounts. The WizGear magnetic mount comes with an adhesive ball mount, and the Akcord mount has the ball attached to it's suction cup. I only used the magnetic heads from these mounts, setting aside both the suction cup of the Akcord and adhesive base of the WizGear. The magnets on the Akcord mount appear to be quite a bit stronger than the WizGear, although both mounts hold the heavy phone quite well. The WizGear unit came with three plates (adhesive rectangle, non-adhesive rectangle, and adhesive circle). These plates are extremely thin and painted shiny black. There is no logo. Despite being very thin, the WizGear plates were very rigid but had a springy-ness that made them almost impossible to re-shape. The Akcord unit comes with an adhesive rectangle, a non-adhesive rectangle, and a silicone-backed circle. The Akcord plates are easily malleable, come in a matte textured black, and have a moderately large Akcord logo. I started with the circular WizGear plate. It worked fine, but I thought the shiny black circle looked out of place on the back of my phone. I pried it off with no damage. Next I tried the Akcord silicone-backed circle. It also worked well, but it was significantly thicker than all the other options. My phone is thick enough, so I pried this off as well. The Akcord silicone plate was harder to pull off than the adhesive WizGear plate I had removed earlier. Neither plate left any residue or damage once removed. I eventually put the adhesive rectangle from Akcord on my phone because its matte texture looks a lot better on my phone and it was easy to re-shape to fit the curvature of my phone's back. Of course, the logo is there, but it is not offensive. Overall Verdict - Magnet mounts are a nice way to go, and the magnet has not caused any discernible effect on my phone. I really like both magnetic mounts but the Akcord model has a stronger magnet and plates that suit my purposes better than the WizGear. I tend to like the general attachment method of the WizGear (adhesive ball mount) better than the suction type of the Akcord, although I did not specifically test the stock attachment points of either mount.
