Awesome lens and price!

This is an incredibly sharp lens! I wasn't sure what to expect as I am planning a trip to New Zealand to photograph the Milky Way and wanted to purchase a super wide angle prime. I kept reading the reviews about this lens, so I took the plunge and ordered it so I could have a few weeks of testing. I don't mind the manual focus, as I was brought up in photography during the film era and am used to shooting with manual focus and exposure. I did order the Rokinon with the exposure and focus indicator though. It wasn't that much more. I've been testing the lens now for a while and it has held it's own. I have a Zeiss 28mm with manual focus that is incredibly sharp and built like a tank, and I have to say, this Rokinon is just as sharp and very well made. From 2.8 - 4.0 it's pretty sharp edge to edge with some softness, but you really have to magnify to see it. From 5.6 - 11 it's a killer lens! Incredible sharpens and no visible CA at all. Focusing is smooth and the built in contacts tell my Canon 5D MK III that it's in focus. I'll be leaving to NZ soon and will update with it's performance on location and a sample photo or two. Overall I'm pretty happy with the lens and the price is a no brainer. Caution: if you are not adept at manual focus and exposure, you may have some trouble with this lens at first, but take the time to learn how to use it and you won't be disappointed.

AE Chip not compatible with EOS R7 R8 and R10, sent USED lens on NEW purchase
By AmazonCustomer on Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2023
I bought this lens to use wth my canon EOS R10 (mirrorless) and meike drop in filter EF/RF adapter. however, it rendered my camera inoperable. after depressing the shutter release button I could hear (and later see) that the shutter was closed, but it never opened again. The camera became completely unresponsive, even the off switch did not work, and I had to remove the battery to gain control over my camera again. I went through a barrage of setting changes and tests but the problem persisted but stopped when I attached a different EF lens to my camera adapter. after finding a forum post about this very issue (this person was using an R7), i saw someone suggest placing a barrier between the contacts on the lens and the adapter to prevent the ship from talking to the camera, i opted for a small sliver of washi tape. This completely fixed the issue. However, I am returning the version with the AE chip in favor of one without. UPDATE: I received my second lens today (sans the AE chip) and WOW. WTF. i purchased a NEW lens... the item i received was anything but new. it was also only wrapped in a mylar bag, no box, no protective shipping container of any kind. at least I can confirm that with an adapter, the lens without the AE chip is completely compatible with my canon EOS R10.
