BEST CASE OUT THERE!!!

Wow!! This case is AMAZING!!! I absolutely LOVE it!! I don't normally write reviews, but I had to for this case! I ordered it as a Prime Member and was able to get it in today, the exact same day I ordered it, which was VERY nice! I did the 30 minute water test that is recommended in the instructions, WITHOUT my iPhone 6s Plus in it yet! Boy, was I glad I read and followed the instructions about that! The reason being is because after the first 30 minute test, I found water in the case! I thought I bought a lemon, but upon further inspection, unbeknownst to me, there was one edge of the phone that I had not properly snapped all the way shut. Well, as you can imagine, that was the reason water got in. I would have ruined my phone had I first tested it with it inside! It sure does pay to actually READ the instructions! Lol!! So, after drying it all up, I again tested it a second time for any leakage, of course after double checking all was sealed tightly this time. After the second 30 minute test, it was bone dry inside! Not a drop of water to be found!!! I need a very sturdy, virtually indestructible case, because I am handicap and use a walker, and I have major balance issues. As a result, I tend to drop my phone A LOT! I have been looking for the perfect case for a few months now. I had settled for the OtterBox Defender, because of it's reputation for intense protection. However, I was NOT pleased with it at all! For starters, I absolutely hated how HUGE the OtterBox is!! It is like carrying around a BRICK!! NO THANK YOU!!! Second of all, I had to remove the plastic screen off of the OtterBox, because it has so much give to it and did NOT sit flush against the screen at all. It was VERY difficult to use my screen without pushing hard and getting frustrated each time! After I removed the screen, I made sure I used a glass screen protector instead. I have used the Zagg brand for awhile now and it has saved my screen MANY times! And whenever it gets cracked, all you do is contact Zagg and the send you out a new one each time! All you have to pay is shipping (which is under $5) and then you send your broken one back. I must have done this at least four times already! As I said, I drop my phone A LOT! Anyhow, I am so excited about my Lifeproof Fre for my iPhone 6s Plus! Even though it says to remove all screens, I thought I might just give it a try with my Zagg glass screen protector I already had on, just to see how it would work, again since I need as much phone protection as possible!! Anyhow, I am very happy to say that it works FANTASTIC!! It is still EXTREMELY sensitive to the touch!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this case!!! By far, my absolute favorite! I will look no farther! It is also EXTREMELY thin and light weight, especially compared to the MASSIVE brick of the OtterBox! It took me so long to decide on this case, because of the high cost! But now, I can honestly say it was definitely worth the cost!!! I only wish I had bought it first instead of last!! You won't go wrong spending the extra money to purchase this case. After all, it is worth it and makes sense to spend more on a quality case to protect an $800 phone!! You really do get what you pay for.

A great case held back by a bad screen protector.

Hats off to Lifeproof for being the leader in waterproof phone cases and for slimming their FRE cases down to make them more useable and less obnoxiously bulky. Having said that, for a 6/6s Plus - this case is still TOO BIG. I dropped my first phone in a pool and ruined it. $350 later, I decided that I'd lifeproof my second phone just to be on the safe side. After taking the case out of the box and fitting it on my phone I decided that FOR ME, the benefits of a waterproof case are not worth the trade-offs. Firstly, the screen protector sucks. It's plastic, it feels plastic, and even with very careful install, I was still getting rainbow colored contact splotches on my screen wherever the plastic touched the glass. Part of the reason we pay so much money for these phones is for the high resolution, beautiful displays on them. I can't rationalize purchasing a phone for that feature and then covering it with a crappy piece of plastic. Sorry, it's probably really high-quality plastic, but plastic is plastic and it's just crappy looking, especially after you get a few scuffs and scratches on it. To address this problem, Lifeproof offers the Nuud, a version of this case that seals around the phone's own glass screen so you can touch the screen directly. GREAT IDEA - but sadly, to make that seal work they have to put huge thick borders around the screen that are big enough to make an old school otter box feel like it fits in with it. Which leads me to point two of why I can't use it: SIZE. For the iPhone 6/6s I think lifeproof made a FRE case that is just right. Perfect protection without adding too much bulk. For me, however, the formula doesn't translate over to the Plus model. The Plus is already just about as big as I can stand a phone to be, adding much of anything to the outside makes it more ungainly and awkward to hold. The FRE adds just enough to make it feel like instead of holding phone you're holding a block of slate tile. Finally, SOUND. No one buys an iphone for the excellent sound quality, but passible sound quality is a must. In my experience, the sound quality was passable, but a marked downgrade from the naked phone. This makes sense. To waterproof the phone you have to cover the speakers with something that lets sound out and keeps water from getting in. In the case of the Lifeproof, sound comes out mostly from vibrating the plastic window on the back of the case. it's really strange at first. You can feel the case "pressurize" when sound is coming out of the speakers and it's mostly released around the Apple logo on the back of your phone. Does it sound muffled? A little, but it's not bad. The worst part is that it's quieter. Even with the sound all the way up you might have trouble hearing it in a loud environment. To its credit it is waterproof and I'd assume shock resistant and dust proof - that's nothing to sneeze at. Would I put my phone it one? No. But that's because I prize the experience of using my phone over its own safety. You may find these trade-offs to be worth the protection the case affords you. If so, I don't think you can do better than a Lifeproof FRE or a lifeproof NUUD.
