Very nice, loud, clear system with deep bass and excellent sound.

The Sony Home Audio System is a great home entertainment system. It has powerful, deep bass without the without the extra room needed for a sub-woofer. It is a 3 piece system. The center control unit with separate left and right speakers and the supplied remote control. The unit, along with the Lightning connector and USB input, which also accepts flash drives; (for your music files) accepts iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch (3rd, 4th and 5th generation), iPod Classic and iPod Nano (4th through 7th generation). Two important connections I find are important on this unit are missing. It has no headphone out or auxiliary input for connecting the headphone output of your regular MP3, cell phone, portable radio or other analog devices. I think Sony should have made this unit compatible will all devices; yet the Lightning connector is made specifically for Apple devices. Although the USB input will accept digital devices. The power output is rated at a true 120 watts delivering 60 watts per channel into two 8 ohm speakers. Some other models by manufacturers are rated at a much higher power output, but it is not a accurate assessment since the speakers are only rated at 2 to 6 ohm loads. It has selectable bass boost as well as several EQ settings. The speakers sound excellent, as they are 2 way bass reflex systems with one 5 ¼ cone woofer and one 1 ½ in tweeter per speaker. The Sony MHC-EC619iP is equipped with a CD/MP3 disc player, FM radio with, clock, USB and iPod inputs. Supported audio formats are MP3 discs (CD's) and USB devices only. It has no 3.4mm jack input and that is a loss, otherwise, the cable that comes with your Apple iPod or iPhone will connect to the USB input perfectly. Newer generations fit on top to the 8 pin Lightning connector. Another major plus to this system I especially like is the ability to transfer music from CD/MP3 disks to your USB Flash drive connected to the USB slot. I used my computer to create folders for each different category of music and put the MP3 files arranged on the USB flash drive and I can select each category of music using the remote control. Supplied accessories are 1 remote control w/1 AA battery, FM lead antenna and 8 speaker pads that attach to the bottom of each speaker to prevent them from sliding. Overall for the money, even if you don't have a Apple device, which I don't own now; it is an excellent buy. It comes highly recommended.

Nice sound. Poor display
By KyDan on Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2014
I bought this unit for my workshop. I was immediately disappointed in the display. It is so dim as to be difficult to seein a brightly lit room. I have various DVRs, VCRs, DVD players in my home and ALL have brighter display than this Sony.I was so disappointed I returned the original and Amazon sent me a replacement. It is the same dim display. I'm surprisedthat I did not see other reviews mention the dim display. On an up note- the unit has great sound. It has a wire FM antenna not a rigid telescope but it works well. I ran the wire underneaththe shelf and get better reception on my favorite station than I've gotten with 2 other portable "boom box" type units in thesame location. As others have mentioned- presetting your favorite stations is harder than it needs to be but it works.Save your owners manual. You'll need it from time to time. The CD player works with disks that I have burned on my computer. (Some other players don't like home made CDs)It works great with a usb drive.I don't own an I-phone so can't comment on that.
