Great price on a good sub
By M Jordan on Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2021
I picked this up via Woot through Amazon at a really nice price. This was the last item I needed in order to fill out my Klipsch home theater. I have this paired with a 5.1 set of bookshelf reference speakers and it was the cherry on top. Initial setup sounded pretty terrible due to the settings I was utilizing for the previous underpowered 8" sub I was using, a Polk Audio. It was gifted to me so...To the point, I had to spend about three hours recalling, looking up manuals and frequency charts going through various settings on the Denon receiver in order to produce the correct sound. The first setup on prior settings was super muddy and overpowering. I took the time to adjust the crossover settings and gain level and was able to get the new sub performing as was expected. It is very powerful and very heavy on presence. It sounds good throughout it's power and volume range and matches well to the reference speakers I already had completed. Highly recommended if you want very punchy, very powerful bass. It sounds really good both with media content as well as various forms of music. I would say the only down side to the speaker is it's tendency to be muddy/strong. The price this was on sale for and it's pairing with the other components on hand is solid. As a side note, and not a reflection on Woot (the seller) but as a note of warning and caution for Amazon specifically in regard to their delivery drivers. I was out of town on the projected delivery date. It was unavoidable due to scheduling and at the price was afraid it would be gone when I got back. I got a notification that it was "delivered and handed directly to a resident". I called my son who was home and asked him about it and he said it was not here. The driver did NOT take a picture of the item like they commonly do. This aspect was quite worrisome considering the cost of the item. Right about the time as I was about to contact Amazon about the issue the item turned up on the middle of my driveway at 8:45 PM. It was only packed in it's retail box, no covering, plainly obvious as to what it was. I am super glad that I live in an area that is both low in crime and a dead end neighborhood. This could EASILY have walked off. It would be worthwhile for Amazon to discuss with their drivers appropriate CYA in regard to items like this. Dropping off some $5 item "wherever" is one this....this, well... In spite of that SNAFU if the speaker is available for that sub dual bill sale price it's more than a steal of a deal. Highly recommended.

Nice sound, but...
By Sa Gi on Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2021
In September 2020, I started looking at subwoofers again because I was planning on upgrading some sound in another room of my home. Since Klipsch was known for having good sound at a reasonable price, I decided to purchase the R-12SW. After getting it, I tried it out and it really does have some room shaking base. That being said, I listen to all kinds of music, or should I say, all kinds of music shows up in what I listen to, and what I noticed, depending on the songs, was that some of the bass frequencies would get lost. For instance, if a lower frequency bass note was played and right behind it a bass frequency slightly higher, then that second bass frequency would not necessarily be heard. You would still get that thump, but not necessarily in the frequency you're supposed to hear it in. When I first noticed that some of the bass frequencies were being, for lack of a better term, drowned out, I thought it may have been do to how my equalizer and tone settings were adjusted. After checking and making some adjustments, I found I was still having some of the same issues, which made me feel like I was not getting the full listener experience with some of the music I listen to. When making the adjustments didn't work, I attached one of my previously purchased Acoustech (Feb 2019) subs to the system I was upgrading and found that I was not experiencing the same issue. In fact, I actually heard some lower frequencies than with the Klipsch, which disappointed me a little. All this is not to say that there is anything wrong with the Klipsch because it sounds good, but for the money, I got better sound and response to frequency change out of my Acoustech and if I had known then what I know now, I would have stuck with the Acoustech. I hope this is helpful to anyone considering purchasing the Klipsch.
