What a great A/V receiver
By Richard Cotter on Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2015
What a great A/V receiver! This Onkyo receiver delivers in spades. The features are incredible. Great sound from all sources. I was surprised at how well the phono section performed. It was the equal to the phono section in my NAD 3020 amp, and that is saying a lot, since the 3020 is legendary for the high quality of it's phono section. The set-up on the Onkyo is straightforward and relatively quick. I had a little trouble setting up the remote speaker zone and was able to contact Onkyo customer service at 4:00 AM, talk to a tech who actually spoke English, and got the problem solved in a matter of minutes. If this is representative of Onkyo customer service they are top notch! I am running 4 Pioneer BS-22 bookshelf speakers as fronts and surrounds, the matching C-22 as a center and my old faithful Sony sub woofer and the surround sound I am getting is fantastic. I am using 2 Pioneer FS-52 towers in the zone 2 section for listening to vinyl and the Onkyo perfomance is near audiophile quality, much better than you would expect from a $500 A/V amp and a pair of speakers that cost $250. This amp truly gives performance in both video and audio from any and all sources that greatly out- performs it's cost. I would highly and emphatically recommend The Onkyo NR737. Get 'em before their gone. The replacement, the NR 747, costs around $900 with basically the same performance. I don't see how you could get more bang for your buck than the Onkyo TX-NR737. 4K capable, drives inefficient speakers well, 2 remote speaker zones( for speakers in other rooms or speakers dedicated to a different input source), 7 HDMI inputs, 2 HDMI outputs, and a first class phono section for the vinyl enthusiast. Also THX sound and Atmos capable to allow theater quality sound. It's got it all, a receiver that can take you into next gen home entertainment. I am a bit sorry I didn't explore Onkyo products earlier. I assumed the were middle of the road at best but boy, was I wrong. ce

After spending $700 I believe I should not have to cool the unit
By Richard N. Ellis on Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2015
Received new TX-737 end of Jan 2015. The unit functions all work except for the unit trying to calibrate the speakers after watching TV for a while. This happens about 2 or 3 times. Placed a fan on top the unit and it seems to help some but it stills tries to cal.the speakers. After spending $700 I believe I should not have to cool the unit. It is not hot to touch. The older Amp. had no problems with heat. Tried to get answers and all the sites refused to let me log in. The Onkyo site for warranties is does not seem to be available after you buy the unit. The service is not there therefore at this time I have to recommend that you consider any other manufactures unit and not Onkyo. If anything should change I would consider upgrading my views on Onkyo.
