Great stock replacement headunit
By Alek Kolin on Reviewed in the United States on February 12, 2015
Great stock replacement headunit.Installed it on Mitsubishi Outlander 2006.Still using stock speakers and sounds quality is pretty good not professional of course. As for the cost it is unbeatable since options include Bluetooth calling and listening music from the phone without hassle to use aux cable.Connecting to bluetooth at first is a headache but use instruction manual to go through all options. No need to use provided remote. Once you connect to this unit next time you turn on your Bluetooth on your phone connection will happen automatically.Best features:1. Plays music through Bluetooth, internet radios apps, YouTube video songs "not too many low cost headunits are capable of playing audia if streaming YouTube music or videos". Switching from radio to Bluetooth connection by pressing only one button, very simple.2. Excellent Bluetooth calling capability, sound quality is pretty good in comparison to my Mazda 3 Ca-Fi Android head unit $800 which has internal microphone that doesn't peak up any sounds.3. Wiring was very simple and all were properly labeled. Needed to purchase proper Stereo harness for this vehicle and connect all wiring on the harness plugs before removing stock headunit.4. Uses USB and memory card to play music as well.5. Buttons and external panel is very user friendly. Needed to go through manual to get familiar how to navigate properly. If lazy use remote.6. Super light weight in comparison to stock crappy headunit.Shipping was quick.

I put this in my 2002 Subaru Impreza. Everything on the radio works as advertised. It's fairly simple to use which I like. The only two things I really don't care for are the dancing equalizer that can't be turned off and when the bluetooth connects the volume jumps up. The bluetooth and the microphone work incredibly well. I'm able to stream all the music from my phone which is the primary reason I bought it in the first place. It looks good in the car also. I wish it the lights on it would dim like a factory stereo but I haven't found any reasonably priced aftermarket that advertised that. The Scoche harness didn't even have a wire for that function. I think it's a better radio than what I paid for it.update! the first on i bought quit after some time. it wouldn't even power on. so i bought a second one. the tuner died after 2 days. i replaced it with a Clarion that works just fine.

Sleek, affordable, and absolutely practical.

Sounds great! Its a nice, low profile addition to your car for a low cost. I liked this originally because it didn't have all of those flashy LED's like most aftermarket radios do. This is nice and flush. I drive an 04 corolla. A friend was in my car as I began to make a phone call through the radio. He said "I didn't know your car was new enough to do that." He thought the radio was for my car! Anyway, if you want a low cost radio with tons of useful functions, go with this. Here's my only 2 gripes.1. All of the instruction were in broken English. I believe it was translated from an Asian language.2. The plastic piece on the center knob that makes the knob look nice came off after 2 months. Super glue fixes it. Don't worry about the buttons, though. They work just fine.

Pretty good for the price. If you are buying this radio than price is obviously a big factor for you, and this one is fairly cheap. As many others have said, the main flaws are:-Screen is too bright. I really wish Pyle would LEARN already that we do not want bright screens. PLEASE allow us to dim it significantly.-Included wiring harness uses the cheapest, thinnest wires ever. Please spend 5 cents more Pyle and use thicker wires. Not the best fit for my 02 Ford Ranger. Even with Trimming the 'sub dash' with a razor knife it was a tight fit. I had to leave the metal outer housing off and use half of a double din kit to get a good fit, but it still isnt completely screwed in, it is just kind of wedged into my dash. It does look pretty good though.Giving it 4 stars because for the money it provides good valueEdit: A few more thoughts after owning this unit a bit longer:-Screen does not stay on Clock. You have to click a button to view the time and then it quickly changes back.-When connected via bluetooth (the whole reason I purchased this unit) the screen says "PHONE" the entire time. Not very useful. I wish it have song titles, but really even showing the Clock would be more useful than showing "PHONE" for hours.-Making a Bluetooth call is nearly impossible, everyone says they cannot hear me. This isnt a big deal for me as I don't plan on using this for calls anymore.-It does not auto connect to your bluetooth phone. Everytime I Get in my car I have to connect and change the source to bluetooth, I wish it would automatically be set to bluetooth since it was the last used input.-The on screen animations are very annoying and you cannot turn them off. I have no idea why Pyle does not let users turn this off.-When using bluetooth, if I use any other app on my phone, like if I get a text message, or open the map app or whatever, the controls on the radio (to skip songs) no longer work because my music app is no longer the last app that I used on my phone. Most of these are minor annoyances and I am still happy with the purchase because the unit was so much cheaper than all of the other options.
Bluetooth signal routing is a pain!!

Sound quality is eeehh... kinda okay. That's compared to the bottom-of-the-line stock radio that came in my truck, using the same speakers. This has a bit of a tin-ny sound that seems to boost the upper midrange (even on all the various equalizer settings). I do very much like the simplicity of the look... just a plain black face that looks like it belongs in a factory vehicle. Unfortunately, they really cheezed up the LCD display with a bunch of junky graphics that move around annoyingly. However I could deal with all these relatively minor issues if not for one HUGELY annoying issue... the Bluetooth on this radio constantly and randomly "steals" the signal from my bluetooth headset as well as stealing it from my phone itself during calls. This is VERY frustrating and quite dangerous when you're driving along then suddenly have to try getting the bluetooth signal back to your hands-free headset or phone after the stereo has decided to take it over and blast it full-volume through your vehicle speakers. Answering a phone call is literally a 10-second ordeal with the person on the other end waiting in silence while you override the stereo's attempt to take over the phone call. Even when the stereo is completely off, it will power itself on, then steal the call away from your headset or phone. Who thought that was a good idea? This radio desperately needs a way to override the bluetooth signal... even if it's just a simple button on the front. I originally purchased this to stream Pandora through my stereo... but for some reason music is actually NOT automatically diverted through the radio... that goes trouble-free to my headset!! So basically no matter what I'm trying to do, the stereo tries to do the opposite. Once you fool around with re-routing the bluetooth signal, it works okay, but what a hassle!! I'll probably order a new stereo soon to replace this one.**Update** I finally purchased another stereo to replace this, and the new one I bought (a Jensen VX4022) sounds much MUCH better than the Pyle. I wound up hacking the Pyle apart to create a factory-looking decoy faceplate to deter theft (the Pyle was perfect for that!!). It also revealed why the Pyle sounds so bad... the entire radio basically resides in the faceplate, and the silver metal box where most radios 'guts' are housed, is an empty shell.
Weird fit for Double Din, picks up electronic interference, but it works

I used this radio to replace an outdated stock unit in my Acura CL. Out of the box, it is not a perfect double din fit with the dash kit I ordered for the car. The shop I took it to get installed thankfully did some modifications to make it fit without extra charge. The unit works; bluetooth connects from my Android, the radio channels come in strong, I cant review the amplifier since I'm still using the stock bose amp with the RCA outs running from the head unit to the amp. With this unit, the Bose speakers actually sound better at higher volumes than my factory head unit.Where this unit finally shows it's lower quality is it's lack of electronic interference shielding. There is low level hiss emitted as soon as the volume is at 1, and you can hear the AC switch, the anti lock brakes, bluetooth connection and any other electronics with high pitch squeals coming on and off. The hisses are the same volume at 1 and 40, so if you are listening to music at general volumes with the car running and fan on, its not really that noticeable. However, softer sounds like talk radio and classical you get reminded that you have a cheap head unit. The installer tried a few products to take the sounds out, but nothing worked without cutting the volume in half. You get what you pay for with this one...

4 out of 5 not bad. I really think this thing is amazing for the price. 55 $ cant go wrong. I was replacing my stock double din in a 2008 Scion XB. The install went off without a hitch. The sound is better than the stock stereo. The Bluetooth works great and , so far, has connected every time I get in the car. Even id the radio is playing, if I get a call it notifies my thru speakers, and on the screen. It also has a look up feature to access contacts in your phone. So far I can only see numbers , but you might be able to get full names. With the proper wire harness, and dash kit for your car this would not disappoint. Also the manual says it only supports 16 GB USB stick, but does not specify on micro sd card. I used a 64gb micro SD card and it worked just fine. 5 starts with a balance of features and price. My car is now "modern"

VERY nice radio ,works wonderful and is easily compatible with my smart phones. It pairs to two different phones at the same time. Simple to pair once radio is installed. Not a fancy look as the 4 and 5 hundred dollar head units but i dont have tint so its looks cheap to a thief. As soon as i get in my 86 model chevy long wheel base it links up. Great sound quality. Hands free calls are especially nice, radio shows my incoming call # across the screen display of radio.Hold conversations then goes back to whatever source of music you were listening to like "pandora" through smart phones bluetooth .I have a few newer model vehicles and its sure nice to jump in my old truck and have this radio do the same as my new cars, truck, and suv. For the $ it is well worth it.

Reason for purchasing: Looking for an inexpensive stereo to replace the stock radio in my Ford SuperDuty E350. I did not want a CD player, only a way to plug in my ipod. I chose this unit for its aesthetic and thought I'd take a chance on the phone/Bluetooth feature. The GOOD - Very nice layout, large white display, large buttons, minimalist blue backlighting. The Bluetooth phone feature works surprisingly well, the sound is crystal clear from the speakers and everyone says they can hear me clearly on their end. Full featured Radio, Aux input, USB, microSD functions all work well. Over all sound quality is very good, EQ and presets are dialed-in well enough and offer flexibility. As one reviewer stated earlier, I agree that the radio looks inconspicuous (stock) when the car is turned off, making it less tempting for window shoppers. The BAD - Main display shows graphical signal display CONSTANTLY in the form of white bars on each side and the semi circle in the center. This feature cannot be disabled and is hard to ignore as it is pulsing along with the sound of the radio, as well as the other modes. The Bluetooth feature works well, as stated above, but you must use your own phone to navigate through contacts and to Begin or End the call. This is due to the fact that phone menu and browser are seemingly impossible to navigate from the stereo itself. The instruction manual is thorough enough regarding all features of the stereo EXCEPT for these phone functions. I am a tech savvy person and I can usually figure out most things, even annoying things like this, given enough time messing around. I actually gave up, which I generally never do. Finally, the volume of incoming phone call is a lot hotter than the stereo signal or other listening modes. When listening to music at highway volume, an incoming call is a lot louder and requires additional attention and effort to turn down the volume as you press the button to answer the call.In closing, I would say that I do like this stereo and it has all the features I was looking for, but it is not perfect. I guess you could say the low price makes up for its personality. I'm now going to experiment with putting some tape over the signal display lights. Wish me luck!

I purchased this in my quest for the perfect stereo for my 95 mazda miata. I was after an OE looking stereo with bluetooth functionality, and this is one of the best low-key looking stereos on the market. I was willing to take a few hits on quality because I don't want my soft top cut by someone looking to steal a high end stereo and because being a convertible sound quality will always suffer. PYLE is very close to a homerun with this unit if they made a number of small tweaks, but ultimately this didn't fit what I was after. Here's the quick review and why I ultimately returned it.1) The bluetooth does not pause your music when the stereo/car is turned off. That means your podcast or whatever you're listening to will just keep going in your pocket.2) When you turn the car/stereo back on, it will default into radio every time.3) No amplifier remote wire. Not a dealbreaker for everyone, but considering the low output of the unit, I had it paired with a small amplifier and I had to either wire a separate amp power switch or wire it with an ignition source. There is the slightest amount of feedback when the amp is on and stereo off, so I would rather the stereo command the amp on/off.4) volume knob detents are very weak, the button feel of all click buttons and the volume wheel gives away the price point, along with the very basic info screen. Not a deal breaker, but this is one area if improved PYLE could have an amazing product. The look of this product is perfect to match 90's and early 2000's vehicles with a very OEM look. If button feel and volume wheel could be improved, fix the above issues, reduce the number of EQ graphics going on, and this could be a great product.
