Highly recommended for gigging pros
By Bill B on Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2016
This pedal is exactly what I needed! I have a lot of gigs booked up and I really want to polish my sound and this pedal really helps. I play anything from blues to hard rock - note: I play Gibson Les Paul Standard/Ibanez Prestige/Fender 57' Reissue Strat through an EVH iii 2x12 50w combo and I also have an ENGL Powerball stack which has a built in gate so this use was primarily for my EVH 5150 which has become my workhorse simply because of the size. I typically play with my gain at about 2-3 even when playing heavy music but there is always some preamp hiss coming which is apparent especially at higher volumes. I placed the ISP Decimator 2 at the beginning of my effects loop with the delay, reverb, and last is my volume pedal. Make sure to dial in the Decimator so it does not cut out your clean tone. This worked great for me so when playing phrases where you have your gain on and have silent spaces the Decimator kicks in to remove his and noise and does not suck any tone at all. If you play metal, I'd experiment with the Decimator in front of your amp as the first thing. This pedal was a great investment and I highly recommend it if you are a professional that's consistently playing gigs. It can take away from your performance if your gear is causing noise

It works well, but honestly I was expecting more with all the hype surrounding this pedal. I feel like the clamping action is a little off with higher gain settings, especially when using heavy delay. I am going to experiment with other places in the signal chain. Noise Gate function in my old Line6 HD500 was better! I also don't appreciate the large size and heavy weight of this pedal.
