Fantastic dual-band antenna
By Joshua G on Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2017
I purchased this antenna based on a recommendation from a friend and the overwhelmingly positive reviews on eHam. I'm very glad that I did. While I haven't connected it to a standalone analyzer yet, my radio is reporting a 1:1 SWR across the 70cm band and the majority of the 2m band, with a maximum SWR of 1.5:1 at the top of 2 meters. No antenna is magical, and there are so many variables that influence range. That said, I'm operating indoors in an area full of interference (a Chicago apartment with no balcony—far from ideal), and able to work UHF simplex at 35W with folks 30-40 miles away. The antenna is mounted to a section of PVC pipe, slipped over the neck of an inexpensive tripod with the camera mount sawed off. The connection to my transceiver is made via 50' of LMR-400 to a Daiwa cavity switch, with another 7' of RG-213 running to the X50A. The antenna's mast mount features a very cool design that protects the coax interface from water ingress. If only I could stick the thing outdoors.

Antenna not passing swr test
By Brett on Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2025
I was having issues with this antenna since the beginning, thought it was my equipment but finally got a vSWR and it tests horribly (almost a flat 16.523 on all frequencies). All my other antennas test just fine. Will need to send to Diamond for warranty.
