A Battery Killer / Guardian Angel

I am a big fan of OtterBox cases - I have had them for all my phones. I typically prefer the commuter, but only the defender was available when I purchased the 8X. Plus, it's a work phone and I have a curious toddler so I welcomed the extra protection the defender series provides When the screen would enter a cycle of dimming, then sleeping, then immediately awakening, I promptly blamed the phone and marched back to the Microsoft store. They replaced it with a new 8x and the problem started occurring again within one day. I removed the case and the problem ceased. I can only conclude that the sensitive power button on top of the phone keeps getting nudged by the tight-fitting case. This power cycling is really hard on batter life. Based on the other reviews, maybe I just got a lemon. This is my only impression of this product though, and it is terrible. I recommend not purchasing this case, particularly if you already have the misfortune of owning an HTC 8x (but I'll save that for another review). Based on my past success with OtterBox, I will give the commuter a try. EDIT: I had to move this from 1 star to 5. Although the power cycling my original case caused was frustrating, I just recovered a phone that should have been in pieces. I inadvertently left my phone on the roof of my car whilst strapping the aforementioned toddler in his seat. The rubberized grip kept it there at 50mph, but it fell off in a turn. It was run-over by who-knows-how-many cars in the middle of an intersection for about 40 minutes during morning rush hour. Tracked the phone through Find My Windows Phone and it took me right there. The phone fell face down and the plastic front of the case was pretty mangled, but the phone emerged without so much as a scratch or a smudge. A little glue from the plastic face guard got on the phone body and rubbed right off. The phone works and looks like it's right out of the box. Reminds me of the old Casio G-Shock watch commercials. I immediately placed an order for a new Defender case - with luck the new one won't turn my phone on.

HTC WINDOWS PHONE 8X OTTERBOX DEFENDER BLACK

I HAVE HAD THIS CASE FOR LESS THAN A DAY AND I HAVE TWO COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT. 1- THE SLEEP/POWER BUTTON IS VERY HARD TO PRESS. IT FEELS LIKE IT IS NOT MAKING MUCH CONTACT. ALL THE OTHER BUTTONS WORK JUST FINE. MAYBE WITH TIME IT WILL LOOSEN UP. 2- I LITERALLY HAVE TO HAVE THE PHONE IN MY HAND TO FEEL IT VIBRATE. I DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH MY LAST CASE. IT MIGHT BE BECAUSE OF HOW THICK IT IS. IF IT WASN'T FOR THOSE TWO THINGS DESCRIBED ABOVE, THIS COULD BE THE PERFECT CASE. I WILL KEEP USING THIS CASE ONLY BECAUSE I WORK IN A WAREHOUSE. IF IT DOES GET TO THE POINT WERE I JUST CAN NOT GET USE TO IT, I WILL SWITCH BACK TO MY OLD CASE,OR LOOK FOR SOMETHING ELSE. IF YOU ARE A PERSON THAT IS CONSTANTLY FOLLOWING UP ON EMAILS AND TEXT MESSAGES, THIS MAY NOT BE THE IDEAL CASE FOR YOU. MAYBE, THE COMMUTER WILL BE A BETTER FIT FOR YOU. HOPE THIS HELPS!
