I purchased this headset to use mainly with VoIP software when gaming with friends. The first one that arrived had a busted microphone, but after Amazon sent a replacement I was more than satisfied with my purchase! I wanted something with a crisp and clear mic, but that also was a comfortable wear for multiple hours at a time. I couldn't be happier with this headset. The audio quality, while not as good as a set of studio headphones, is surprisingly good. There is a bit more bass than one would expect, but I find that is actually nice when gaming. This is only a 2.0 stereo headset and given the price that may be a head scratcher, but it does have an analog connection and works without needing a software suite installed on your computer. The headset also works with my iPhone and call quality is great. The mic on this headset is superb. I have had many compliments about how clear my voice sounds. The mic is also retractable, which is convenient when I want to just listen to music or watch a movie. The first headset that I was sent had a bad microphone; it picked up nothing but static. I was more than disappointed, but Amazon quickly sent me a replacement with a proper mic. The best feature of this headset is the comfort. I have a rather large head and have trouble wearing most headphones for extended periods of time. Usually my ears will hurt due to the strain from the tight headband. Earbuds don't work for me either as they tend to either fall out or get yanked out at the most inopportune times. This headset doesn't give me any trouble. It is extremely light weight, and adjusts to comfortably fit the head of an ogre like myself. TL;DR: This headset is expensive because it is a quality product. Buy it if you like comfortable, green, stereo headphones with an amazing retractable microphone.

Take it from a fellow gamer, don't purchase this headset.

I'm a pretty die hard gamer and I've been gaming for as long as I can remember. Because I invest a lot of time into gaming it only makes sense to get a quality gaming set up (keyboards, mice, mousepads, etc). To further my gaming experience and so I've invested quite a sum into buying up Razer products (their products are pretty expensive as anyone who buys Razer products knows)over the past couple years and I have not ever been as disappointed with a purchase as much as when I bought the Razer Kraken Pro. First and foremost, the mic: As soon as I got the headset, I plugged it in and began testing the sound quality and the playback from mic recordings/mic tests via Vent, Teamspeak, Skype, and Sound Recorder from Windows. I tested it at first and then I heard complete silence. I did not hear a word of what I just said. At first, I thought maybe I needed to install Razer Synapse and download some drivers, but this was not the case. Going into the Sound Manager in control panel I boosted the mic gains to maximum and turned noise canceling on. I then tried several more times to test my voice playback and the most I could get was no more than the equivalent of whispering. After a few hours of frustration I gave up on trying to get the mic to work. I began to do some research about problems with the Kraken Pro's mic like mine and I found countless people stating their mics were pretty much the same way. This is such a disappointment considering all the positive feedback people have been giving this headset. Second, "The Most Comfortable Headset" is a sham. This headset has heavily padded cups that will enclose both your ears completely and basically is noise cancelling. It seemed comfortable for the first 20 minutes or so and then my ears began to began heating up quickly and the sides of my head began to ache because of the pressure the headset exerts on the sides of your head. I will say however that the headset's aesthetics look very pleasing if you are into vanity instead of gaming, you might want to just get the Razer Kraken. Third, the Audio. The audio from the Razer Kraken Pro is decent, but not of the caliber you would expect for paying $80+. I suppose it's pretty good as far as headsets go if you listen to music, though some songs sound pretty odd with the really noticeable bass-boost that comes with these. Some people may like it, but I only thought it was okay. Forth, the physical state of the headset (parts, design, etc). The design on the Kraken Pro looks good, it really does. The main problem with this headset is that it's so cheaply made that it makes me cringe at the fact that I spent roughly $90 (tax and shipping included) for this. First, the wiring for the analog inputs are as thin as wires get; the durability of the wires make it look like you'd have to buy new ones if you were once accidentally rough with detaching your headset. Also the headset itself (green part connecting ear cups to the padding) is made of pretty cheap plastic. I suppose the design was made so that it would be lightweight and that would add to the comfort, but it seems more like the headset was not meant to last more than a few months even if you were delicate with handling it. I really hope this isn't the beginning of a decline in quality in Razer products. I have no problem with shelling out a decent amount of money on gaming equipment as long as it's made with quality, but this product was complete disaster. TL;DR: Steer clear from this headset, it is cheaply made and the mic is garbage. DO NOT BUY! Not worth nearly a hundred bucks for this!
